$ 2000 a month is pretty steep to have him live away from you and the rest of the family. Maybe you guys need to re-evaluate your priorities and consider living in the same place to cut down on duplicate housing expenses.

For people who went back to school later in life?
8Question : For people who went back to school later in life?
Here is the deal… I’m at a point of starting over. Leaving my boyfriend who was my life the last 4 years. I’m moving back home from NY to Seattle (I came out here to be with him- then he told me it’s not working out).
I want to know… does education change your life for the better? The question may sound obvious, and I want to go back to school but that may mean some real sacrifices. LIke living with my family (who is on the dysfunctional side) at least for awhile.
Otherwise I can go back to work at a mediocre job so I can live on my own again.
All my friends tell me I shouldn’t live because it’s unhealthy there but I’ve been thinking about biting the bullet and doing it just for awhile to try to get past this stage of my life.
I’m 26 years old. I started in a comm. college after school but dropped out after a semester. I’m tired of “just getting by.” It’d be nice to have new skills so I can enjoy what I do.
I think it would give me a better idea of what I want.
I LOVE YOUR STORIES! I want to hear more. Thank you for the inspiration.

Do what you want in life. If you want an education, then go for it. Is there any other place you can live, so you don’t have to live with your family? You can get a financial aid if you have financial problems.
I’m not going back to school or anything. I just happened to major in something I didn’t have passion for. Now I’m 23 years old and I just got started majoring in fashion design.

i use to work for home warranty companies, some people do go up against them but must home warranties will find some reason to not replace it. lack of maintenance or rust are two of the most common reasons they say no. the companies that work for them don’t make much money so the don’t want to replace it or will add a bunch of non covers like despoil and duct transition we use to only get $ 150 from ahs and $ 1200 from the customer in non covers. so in short keep complaining they will get you fix in the 2 years i worked from them i only replaced 3 units all the rest they declined, or i could fix.
I refinanced my home with a new company. The title company went out business. Monies have disappeared.?
2Question : I refinanced my home with a new company. The title company went out business. Monies have disappeared.?
Their account is frozen and on the day of my closing, I have learned there was only $ 1400 in their account. My new company sent the title company money to pay off my existing mortgage. Needless to say, the pay off was never sent. The homeowner’s insurance check returned as well. I have contacted the BBB, Dept of Finance, Federal Trade Commission, Dept of consumers’ affairs and our local tv station. It has been 30 days since the closing, January 11, 2008, and my old company just reported me late on my credit report and keeps calling for their payment or payoff. A claim has been filed with the title insurance company. Can anyone out there think of something else that can get this taken care of faster? And also, I am trying to find an attorney to handle this and protect my rights as well as home and so far, no luck with that either since this is an untreaded category. And on top of all that, I have a new mortgage that is due March 1!
I have already received new statement from new company. New company DID pay funds to title company. I DO HAVE 2 mortgages.

Ouch! Thats a nightmare of a situation and I wish you well.
Have you tried contacting your local Senators office and requesting constituent services? Generally they can assist in really odd situations and help you resolve the issue. The biggest problem is that you will have late payments tacking on because of that old mortgage.
Seriously what a hassle. Unexpected pain in the ***. Good luck.
My homebuilder who went bankrupt won’t honor warranty?
6Question : My homebuilder who went bankrupt won’t honor warranty?
Hi – after we bought a new home last year, the homebuilder declared bankruptcy. When we found out, we called them and asked them how the home warranties would be affected and we were informed that they would “transfer” the warranties to a 2nd company. We now have a warranty issue but when we called the 2nd company it turns out the homebuilder only transferred homes that were sold after 4/18/08 – (we bought our home on 3/31/08). We were told that we were “out of luck” or we could hire an attorney. Anyone have any thoughts, ideas, advice?
Thanks!

i went to US BANK to apply for a HELP loan for 10,000 to repair my home and bring it up to code?
3Question : i went to US BANK to apply for a HELP loan for 10,000 to repair my home and bring it up to code?
HELP allows homeowners in most Cuyahoga County communities to borrow money for repairing or remodeling homes at three percentage points below a bank’s market rate for home improvement loans. the loan person at US BANK then called a couple days later and told me HELP turned down my loan but she could have someone from the bank call me and offer me a different proposal. He did call and told me that he could give me 15,000 for 7.99% I told him i did not want that much money yet told me i had to take out that much. Why would US BANK not give me 10,000 yet approve and encourage me to take out a BIGGER LOAN? Smells fishy. Also they stated HELP turned me down when in fact it was the US BANK itself. This makes me question if they wanted me to feel as if there was no other alternative then to go with their offer of what i feel is a subprime loan. They stated i did’nt qualify for the HELP loan because of my credit (in their words i was “50 points or so off”)..i am confused it sounds very shifty
my problem with it was this…they stated that the HELP people turned me down when in all actually it was USBANK or their underwriter that turned me down …leading me to believe that i had no other choice then to go with USBANK’s higher rates when i could have just went to another bank that offers that loan and tried there. like a bait and switch tatic

Our thermostat went blank after a blackout, we called the heating company to come out and take a look?
1Question : Our thermostat went blank after a blackout, we called the heating company to come out and take a look?
they charged us for the service call as well as the installation of a new thermostat..we paid a total of 300 bucks. we had ice cold air for 1 whole day before the new one went blank…what gives? we are having the heating and air company come out again which is 3days later..is it fair for us to have to pay another service fee. Just our luck..homeowners warranty for appliances is lapsed.

If you pay a service charge and the problem persists, even if it worked for a few days, the service company should not charge you again for the call. Perhaps what they “fixed” wasn’t the problem and they should investigate further.
Most services have a warrantee for work done and I would think that 3 days would qualify.
If they try to soak you again, report them to your local Better Business Bureau.

Pretty much the only thing you can do is compare other insurer’s rates. Maybe you’ll find one that is cheaper than the one you currently have. Good luck!
