Many area homeschooling groups arrange a formal graduation. Here in Arkansas they are held at the homeschooling conventions each year. Cap, gown, stage… all the traditional pomp and circumstance. All you have to do is look to find one in your general area.

$ 2000 a month is pretty steep to have him live away from you and the rest of the family. Maybe you guys need to re-evaluate your priorities and consider living in the same place to cut down on duplicate housing expenses.

Can somone please help me figure out the process how do I get plans, who can make the plans? What steps should I take to build? Do I talk to a builder first, arcirtect first, engineer? I am not sure what roles each of those people play can somone please help there is just soo much to learn. Thanks in advance !

You have a lot of research to do, but start with finances. Determine how much you can afford to pay for or borrow for a new home. Then look at a few plans of houses. See what you need in a house in terms of bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. Make a list of what you have to have, then one of what you’d like to have. Go out and look at some model homes in the price range you can afford to get a feel for what’s out there and what they look like. Make a list of what you like and don’t like about them. You’ll have to find a piece of land, and make sure it can pass a perk test, etc. By looking at model homes, you can determine which builder’s style you like. The architect will create your plan but you can probably purchase one online a lot cheaper if it’s a basic house. Check with the town to see what the requirements are in terms out house size, etc. They may also have a list of builders, engineers, etc. As I said first, you need to do a bit of research. Good luck!

I know the answer. I just wanted to see if you did. The answer is that there is an endless supply of northerners that come to the state after selling their home. So real estate agents/ sellers in Florida can ALMOST charge anything they want. But those folks that move down here usually don’t know the downside to Florida. They don’t know how bad a hurricane really is, or that the cost of living down here is much higher than they thought, or that wages are low, or that crime can be very high, or that social services are not the greatest because od a low tax base, or that homeowners insurance is the highest in the nation, or that the sense of community is not very tight, or that the public schools rank quite low, or that etc… You can’t really warn them beforehand. Gotta find out the hard way like me.
It really isn’t like Disney World.
And also, employers always have an endless new crop of employees to choose from. Keeps the wages low.
