Question : I Need Help Identifying A Music Video- Fast Motion Effect, Staged in Partly Built House.?
I thought it was by the Goo Goo Dolls, maybe it is, but I couldn’t find it in their collection of videos. It has the band and actors in it, both are staged in a partly built house. Over the course of the video, it goes from sunrise to sunset in fast motion, a group of like four teenagers wander in and out of the house. It kind of has a cross-processed look to it, heavy greens and blues. It’s also very contrasty. I don’t know anything about the song, it wasn’t very notable. If anyone could point me to the video, I’d be really really grateful. Thanks.

Question : New Years in New York seem staged and boring?
I didnt get to go out for New Years this year, so I stayed at home and watched some of it on TV. Every station covering the ball drop in New York seemed rather boring. The crowds were in little gates separated by markers with huge gaps for the police to walk through. No alcohol, no nothing, that made it seem like people were having a good time.

On top of that, they sold out to Nivea for everything. They kept saying millions of people, but I never saw more than a couple thousand when they would pan out.

Has it been like this in recent years, or was this year worse than most? I flipped between the channels a few times to see different coverage, but they all seemed horrible. Is the over commercialization with the staging of “fun” what we have to look forward to?

It’s a TV program – it has always been staged and boring. I think you are reading into it a bit. The ball drop has always been sad and tired – it’s just that you were at home, bored, watching it this year.

In Austin, there is a service (austinhomestaging.com) that allows renters to pay normal rent for luxury homes. You live in them until they sell. You fill it with your own furniture, pay utilities, etc., as if it were your own. Anyone have any experience doing this? What are the downfalls?

I had a friend do it and she loved it. Downfalls: The rules about guests and parties are VERY strict. Also, Realtors and potential buyers are walking through your home all hours of the day, and you don’t have to be there. Realtors, have to allow them a certain amount of freedom when touring, so there may be a time when a couple, their kids, and even their dog is left wandering through your bedroom and things. My friends biggest complaint is that, although they were touring the house, potential buyers would often look in drawers and other random personal spots.

If you are a relaxed to messy liver don’t even consider doing this. The house has to look it’s best at all times, so you can forget leaving the bowl you used for cereal in the sink, that would repulse a buyer and violate your agreement. Leaving you instantly homeless.

My friend was in her staged home for 3 months before she was given 2 weeks to vacate. Sounds, like a tough move to me, but She absolutely loved it. As short lived as it was.
