Well, as far as any damages, you would have to prove they did it by taking them to court and pesenting whatever evidence you had against them.
Most moving companies require that that the workers be bonded & insured, so if you went cheap and hired some company that does not follow these practices, you have only yourself to blame.
Also, a written contract, in which said liabilities would be covered would be nice as well.

A leaky ceiling damaged my belongings, am I entitled to reimbursement?
2Question : A leaky ceiling damaged my belongings, am I entitled to reimbursement?
Water started leaking today and got a ton of my stuff wet, i had to go upstairs (to the unfinished apartment that they are still working on) and use pipes to lead the huge leak out a window, and away from the cracks in the cement floor where the water would drip down onto my drop ceiling. The water damaged a lot of my belongings and I was wondering if the landlord is responsible for paying me for those things.
I do not have renters insurance, and the lease states something along the lines of how he is not responsible for damages incurred from a natural disaster, but im pretty sure that means more along the lines of if a tornado came and knocked the building down, not if his shotty workmanship decides the fate of my belongings. Also I’m not even on the lease. This is a pretty big 6.5 bedroom apartment and theres 10 people living in it. He is a very unprofessional landlord and It wouldnt surprised me if he didnt even realize that im not on it. So in the case that I AM and AM NOT on the lease, how would that play out for me?
If he decides to not pay up there are many MANY things i could threaten to call him out on and I would not mind making a legal thing out of this. There has got to be a dozen things that are illegal with this place. For example, our HVAC unit is in a closet, so he cut a hole in the wall just below an outlet and just fed the powercable through. All of our outlets have no frames, the ports just kinda hang loose. Not to mention during the coldest 2 months of winter the heater didnt work and i could see my breath in my room while using 2 space heaters. There are many other problems that I know for sure are against housing code. These are most deffinately unlivable conditions and could probably put him in a lot of trouble if I were to make a deal about them.
Please keep in mind with your reply that I want to know what my case is in terms of being ON and OFF of the lease since i have other roommates, that are on the lease, who would be willing to take the lead on the problem in my place. I would also like to note that i pay him rent directly so he cant plead ignorance in the fact that I live here, and Im pretty sure that is also illegal for him to do that since im not on the lease (not sure if its illegal for me also though)
Oh and sorry for rambling on but i lived in another one of his apartments last year and i think i may have been on the lease for that one (i was in the hospital during the time we moved in and i remember him looking for me when i got back to sign the lease but i cant remember if it ever happened), can that transfer over or anything to a completely new apartment in the building nextdoor, on the offchance that i did sign it?
Thanks

No matter what, he is not responsible. You are. Lease or not. You can always take hime to court, but there’s no way you can win.
You learned a lesson. The best thing a renter can buy is insurance!

Is there a standard, typical home warranty reimbursement cost for an A/C unit?
1Question : Is there a standard, typical home warranty reimbursement cost for an A/C unit?
I’ve had bad luck with my current home warranty company and have been researching others. One company lists its entire reimbursement schedule, and apparently a reimbursement for an A/C unit is $ 500. What I would like to know is, is $ 500 a typical reimbursement cost from most home warranty companies for A/C units? Seems barely worth it, since A/C units cost thousands to replace or repair. I’d like to go with this warranty company in general, due to their good reputation, but are there other companies out there that would reimburse more for an A/C unit?

its why the waranty cost what it cost ,,,it limits there exposure to a cap at 500 they may only give you 250 and say its an old unit and has had half of its life used up …….so check the fine print ,
youd be better off having an ac man come by and check it out ,units have a life expectancy and he will be able to tell you where it is in its life .
you wouldnt buy a 30 year life insurance policy on a 90 year old man …….
so if its old , id save for a new one and skip the warranty .

How often do companies seek reimbursement on relocation expsenses?
2I just relocated with my company to a different state with all relocation expenses paid for. I signed a contract for one year, stating that if I voluntarily resign or am terminated with cause, I am liable to pay all monies back. Do companies usually seek this money? Does anybody have experience with this? I would have to imagine that a large company wouldn’t want to go through the legal aspect and expense of recouping those funds. Any thoughts?
