Question : Is it legal for a home insurance company to require renters insurance for a domestic partner?

NYS….When i mention it to other brokers they say it is not necessary and are surprised that they are requesting it. I don’t see the reasoning behind it other than another way to bilk people. He does not rent and is not a tenant.
I had Allstate and they are not renewing due to hurricane risk. Go figure.
This may sound unusual but The contents are not my concern. I just want home owners insurance because the mortgage company requires it. To require me to have anyone living with me to also get renters insurance seems fishy. why would someone be able to sue him if they get hurt? Wouldn’t they have to sue the owner of the property?
Thanks for your answers but you guys are making me paranoid. You’re better off living alone and not having any visitors.just in case something should happen….which probably never would anyway.

No. If the homeowner has a homeowners insurance company, s/he can allow anyone living there to have their belongings covered as well.

Any ideas on how to reach senior PHP Developers in the tri-state area? We are looking for a partner to step into something that is already established. Launched in 2005, we were the first internet company to develop a truly creative solution to a billion dollar problem in the wireless space. In addition to our innovative flagship property, we have recently launched a new application competing with eBay, craigslist, and other classified communities in the wireless category.

We have a “real revenue” model. :) We need brainpower and fresh talent to make it hum.

The company is made up of a powerful founder entrepreneur duo. We have had numerous top-shelf investment interest, but we need to build out the management team and finish developing the platform.

Our established online community has been featured in every major media outlet you can imagine and multiple times, i.e. CNN, Wall street journal, NYT, Wired, Money, entrepreneur mag, etc.

The person who joins us will be comfortable in a early-stage, pre-VC environment, and have the talent, vision, entrepreneurial, and management ability to drive the company forward.

Hi, I am a 38 year old male from central mn and I am interested in finally opening a studio somewhere local and making tattooing my permenant position. I am looking for either a silent partner or a partner who shares the same aspirations and dreams of tattooing as I do. It is my world. I have been doing it over 10 years now and I do have 75% of the equiptment needed to open a shop. Some things are still needed. A silent partner would just need to help with the rental and opening costs and then they would profit off of the monthly income. The shops around here average $ 2000 a month depending on how much work they put in. I would also be interested in having a regular partner who would share in the costs and share in the profits. Having an apprentice would be very nice also. There is plenty of office space available around here and plently of reasonable housing as well.
