Answer by NOLA guy“Low season” is July and August because that time of year is very hot & humid. There also tend to be fewer visitors around Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year.

Otherwise, you can avoid crowds by choosing a time when there are no major events (ex. Mardi Gras and Jazz Festival) or large conventions in town. Best way to do that is use a real travel agent.

You can stay out near the airport, try looking for hotels on Vets in Metairie:

If you’d like to stay near the French Quarter, try any of the larger chain hotels (Embassy Suites, Hyatt, etc).

I heard if the house wasn’t raised after being remodeled, its double the insurance. How much insurance are we talking about will be added to the mortgage?
