Question : Employer required to pay for training hours?
I’m a certified nursing assistant and I worked as a PCA (Patient Care Assistant) at an assisted senior living facility. After hours training and working there for three days I decided the job was not for me. They had poor management skills and they don’t treat employers with respect. While I went through hours of training, the manager told me (verbally) that they were not going to pay me for my training hours until I’ve worked 90 days, which was not stated in their employee handouts. I did some research and according to department of lobar, all training hours must be paid by the employer. Since they stated the no pay for training hours until 90 days verbally, is it their words or the labor department’s words? Just to clarify this too, they HAVE to pay me for working the 3 days regardless of anything right?

You didn’t say where you’re performing this work, but assuming it’s in the United States, yes, they have to pay you. You can file a complaint with the Department of Labor.

What rights does a business tenant have in California? We’re in Santa Clara County. Our property management company has taken control over the temperature inside our office and now also determines when the system is turned on and shut off. The system does not even run all the hours we are open for business, not to mention that the temperature they have chosen is not palatable for our clients who mention it daily. Where can I get info on business tenant rights? (not residential) Thanks.

I am going to interview for a property claims adjuster next week and I had some questions. I asked the person setting up the interview and they couldn’t really tell me much. The pay is hourly and I am trying to find out how much the pay will be.
The position is out in the field doing the property inspections and writing the checks there.

If you’re an inside adjuster, at an hourly rate, you’ll probably be working part time – very part time. Most inside adjusters are salaried, and work 40 – 60 hour weeks.

A whitish powdery looking mold is growing, and I was wondering if this type of mold could cause the reactions. I know that I can send it in for analysis, but it is not the black kind that a lot seems to be written about.
