My friend says that if the natives do not want to attract commuters to come here, then they should not advertise their homes in the NY Daily News and etc. Do you think she has a point? Do you think that the quality of the houses is expected to increase? In what areas do you want? They seem to have the feeling real estate agents “newbies” a single domain alias APCP (Pocono Country Place) show, if they have nothing else to do? This letter responds to Kenneth Hudson’s Feb. 3 letter to the editor headlined, “Hispanics illegally in U.S. are problem.” His letter was written in response to a letter to the editor from Victor Morales, published Jan. 18 and headlined, “Sometimes adjustment needed in reading lens.”
First, I see nothing wrong with Hudson’s views, but I would not have apologized by stating “forgive us” — even though it was probably meant tongue-in-cheek. We owe these gate-crashing, law-breaking illegals nothing but a trip back to where they came from, post-haste. A large majority of Americans are fed up with illegal aliens sneaking across our borders to take jobs from American citizens. I refer to all illegals not just Hispanics; however Hispanic illegals are the biggest cohort.
Let’s be honest — they are criminals. They have eluded U.S. government screening systems set up at the border to stop undesirable criminals, rapists and murderers from coming into our country. Do not listen to bleeding hearts who would have us think that we’re spewing hate and discrimination for stating facts. If these bleeding hearts had the best interests of this great country at heart, they would change their tune. I happen to love my country very much; it disgusts me to see those among us who would foolishly allow illegals to simply walk in and take over because it is the easy thing to do.
Thousands have given their lives to preserve this hallowed ground, and the democratic, representative republic that thrives with it.
When illegal Hispanics protest in the streets they do not appear even to have the common decency or courtesy to carry the American flag. Instead, a majority carry the Mexican flag. I don’t think that shows very good sense or respect. They shove their foreign flag in our face and demand citizenship. Additionally their leaders’ speeches do not seek forgiveness, but show the same arrogance displayed by crashing our sovereign border. For those of us who follow church doctrine, please remember this is a political and legal matter. This is where we should recognize separation of church and state. The laws are clear, we should encourage our authorities to enforce the laws and back them up when they do.
If anyone has questions about whether illegals endanger the streets, there is a Hispanic gang in Los Angeles that authorities believe has a membership of over 50,000, made up primarily of illegal Hispanics. They are big on drug trafficking and killing those who get in their way. The area is so dangerous and controlled that mail carriers, meter readers, and police (even pizza delivery) do not dare enter onto their turf. We were instructed at one point in time that we should not call those here illegally “illegal aliens?” Why not? Those who live in a country of which they are not a citizen, are known as “aliens.” This was an attempt by Hispanic leadership to brainwash us into believing this is a derogatory label.
I, too, believe as Hudson does that Hispanic legal immigrants, naturalized Hispanics and American-born Hispanic citizens who support the unlawful efforts of illegals to demand rights to which they are not entitled and/or harbor those here illegally run the risk of hurting their Hispanic community. Many Hispanic illegals are getting a free ride in our colleges when they have not earned that right.
The phrase, “They’re just doing jobs nobody else will,” is nothing more than a cliché for those who cannot find any reasonable or justifiable basis on which to argue their unreasonable position on the question of illegal aliens.
Most of us are aware that the remedy for the illegal alien invasion is harsh — “round them up and send them home.” But then every murder, rape or assault committed by someone here illegally is harsh and even more unjustified as they should not have been in the country in the first place. The American citizen who is out of work and finds jobs filled by those here illegally has a harsh reality to face as well.
There are those who would have us all think all this is a matter of racial discrimination. It is not! All ethnicities or races illegally in this country should be handled in the same manner.
Many Hispanics have joined the military and will earn their citizenship as the law allows. They are to be congratulated for their service to their new country; they have earned our respect.
