We design and deliver the systems, software
and services that drive next-generation communications
networks. Backed by Bell Labs
research and development, we use our
strengths in mobility, optical, access, data and
voice networking technologies, as well as
services, to create new revenue-generating
opportunities for our customers, while
enabling them to quickly deploy and better
manage their networks. Our customer base
includes communications service providers,
governments and enterprises worldwide.
We have three segments organized
around the products and services we sell.
The reportable segments are Integrated Network
Solutions (“INS”), Mobility Solutions
(“Mobility”) and Lucent Worldwide Services
(“Services”). INS provides a broad range
of software and wireline equipment related
to voice networking (primarily consisting
of switching products, which we sometimes
refer to as convergence solutions, and voice
messaging products), data and network
management (primarily consisting of access
and related data networking equipment
and operating support software) and optical
networking. Mobility provides software and
wireless equipment to support radio access
and core networks. Services provides deployment,
maintenance, professional and managed
services in support of both our product
offerings as well as multi-vendor networks.
Beginning in fiscal 2001, the global
telecommunications market deteriorated,
resulting from a decrease in the competitive
local exchange carrier market and a significant
reduction in capital spending by established
service providers.This trend intensified
during fiscal 2002 and continued into fiscal
2003. Reasons for the market deterioration
included general economic slowdown, network
overcapacity, customer bankruptcies,
network build-out delays and limited availability
of capital.
We believe that the market for telecommunications
equipment has stabilized
and is starting to grow in certain areas. The
growing demands of enterprises and consumers
for additional services tailored to
their needs is creating the need for a new
convergence of networks, technologies and
applications.

Writing an email to the Project manager to delegate the following tasks?

Question : Writing an email to the Project manager to delegate the following tasks?
I am a Director of an office and need to relocate our office and I need to email the project manager to delegate these tasks:
Find a suitable location
Negotiate a lease
set up information systems and computers
arrange office configuration
assess equipment needs
hire movers
set timelines for completion of various tasks
identify what team members you will need to assist you
I am not sure how to start this email, could someone assist me with how I could go about this, I would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
office movers

Best answer:

Answer by MC Wife
Wow! Mike, you must really trust your project manager in order to actually give them the authority to do ALL of these tasks. That lease you want the PM to negotiate is going to lock your company into a huge on-going set of expenses for years…

I would suggest an approach that seperates site selection and lease negotiation from the actual move. The first set of tasks are (1) creating a timeline and budget for both the short-term relocation project and for the long term lease/purchase expenses, (2) identifying the new location and (3) negotiating a lease/purchase for the property. There are service providers (eg: GOOD real estate broker and attorneys) that need to be involved in these 3 steps of the project but will not be involved in the rest of the move. Also, the senior management in your organization will need to be more deeply involved in this phase than in the nitty-gritty of what mover you use.

If you really just want an opening for your Email…

Project Manager Name -
In order to ensure a smooth relocation of the XYZ Company operations from our current office space at XYZ Plaza, you are being assigned the role of Project Manager responsible for coordinating all move related activities including the following:

You will be required to provide a proposed timeline and written budget for this relocation project to So-an-So (boss type person) with your recomendations for the necessary resources to complete the project by _______ (date).

Answer by Clive L
Looking at the change in figures from 2003 t0 2004 the total assets have increased by $ 1,052,000 while total liabilities have decreased by $ 940,000 indicating a net worth increase of $ 1,992,000 ( of which $ 753,000 was from additional paid in capital). This indicates that the company must have made a profit of $ 1,239,000 ($ 1,992,000-$ 753,000),in the twelve months to 30 Sept 2004. The return on total assets based on this figure is

ROTA = Profit/Total Assets x 100
ROTA = 1,239,000 / 16,963,000 x 100
ROTA = 7.3% approximately

This could be considered a reasonable return but needs to be compared with the industry average to draw any conclusions. The ROTA is a good measure of management’s handling of company affairs. A poor return reflects against management as shareholders will want to know why the company holds assets that do not give a reasonable return on the investment.

Potential investors would need to see the Revenue statements. The figures here do not give any indication of whether sales revenues or profits are going up or down from 2003 to 2004. Inventories have increased from 2003 to 2004 by 190,000 or 30%. This could mean that sales have dropped considerably during the previous twelve months. This could indicate the beginning of a downward cycle which does not augur well for the future.

Looking at the liquidity of the company it has current assets of $ 8,231,000 and current liabilities of $ 4,466,000. This is slightly below the 2:1 ratio that is considered a save margin. The quick ratio (or acid test ratio) is also below the required 1:1, $ 4,237,000: $ 4,466,000. This company could have trouble meeting its debts as they fall due, especially as it appears that sales revenues have dropped (reflected in the increase in inventories).

A.alcohol and tobacco
b. travel docoments

d. pets
international relocation

Best answer:

Answer by loyaltubist
A lot depends on which country you are visiting. For example, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Guam are free from rabies, so pets are kept away for a brief period upon moving. Actually, those are the only things on this list which can be quarantined.

But some of these items are not allowed into other countries:

Alcohol–Don’t bring alcohol into Saudi Arabia or Brunei.

Tobacco–All tobacco products consumed in Singapore must be purchased in Singapore. Not even duty-free cigarettes are allowed. I imagine, if you were a smoker, and you put a package of Marlboros in your pocket, you could get away with it.

Travel Documents–Always use your own.

Foreign Currency–Some countries limit the amount of currency which is allowed out.

The Best is probably the KC A’s out of oakland since they had good team when they were Phillie A’s but sucked in KC, and then became a good team again in Oakland also St Louis Browns to Baltimore, i never even knew they started out in St Louis, they must of been bad before they became the O’s, and you cant really count the Jets and Giants heading to Jersey, its still the same market. Otherwise, most of them arent that good, i mean the Giants and Dodgers leaving was bad, the NFL leaving LA was bad (even though LA dont give a shit about football) and the Colts and Browns leaving baltimore and cleveland, those were all bad ones

Do you agree that the following is good comparison to the illegal immigration problem?

27

Question : Do you agree that the following is good comparison to the illegal immigration problem?
SAY I BROKE INTO YOUR HOUSE A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials
in ages!!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

Her point:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder
to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let’s say I break into your house. Let’s say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, “I’ve made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I’ve done all the things you don’t like to do. I’m hard-working and honest
(except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:

You are Required to let me stay in your house You are Required to add me to your family’s insurance plan You are Required to Educate my kids You are Required to provide other benefits to me & to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It’s only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I’m just trying to better myself. I’m a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me. And don’t forget to make sure your forms are in MY language – I need to understand them…

Why can’t people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America .

The demand curve and supply curve for one-year discount bonds were estimated using the following equations:?

Question : The demand curve and supply curve for one-year discount bonds were estimated using the following equations:?
The demand curve and supply curve for one-year discount bonds were estimated using the following equations:
B^d: Price = -2/5 Quantity + 940
B^s: Price = Quantity + 500

Following a dramatic increase in the value of the stock market, many retirees started moving money out of the stock market and into bonds. This resulted in a parallel shift in the demand for bonds, such that the price of bonds at all quantities increased $ 50. Assuming no change in the supply equation for bonds, what is the new market interest rate?
discount moving supplies

Best answer:

Answer by Asdru
I do not see how to connect the content of problem to market interest rate.
Changes in price bonds means change in an implicit interest rate present in the documents; here we are talking about the interest rates of documents, not the interest rates of market.
The money which did leave the stock market did entry to bonds market so the money does not leave market interest.
I could say if the money does not leave the market interes then the rate does not change, but the problem is that stock market could impact with more force the market interest than the market bonds.
