Question : HELP. Need Info on student apartment rental in Florence for 3 month period.?
I’m trying to find information from other students or people living in Florence as to finding a great apartment rental in Florence for 3 students visiting from the US for a period of 3 months. The address of the school is ‘Lorenzo de Medici, Via del Giglio 15, 50123. They do not want the school housing and are looking for
a nice place with a good location. Price of course, matters, as they are students. Please help, any information is greatly appreciated. They are fashion design students and are embarking on a chance of a lifetime. We just
need direction as to finding good clean housing in a safe area, with plenty of amenities nearby, like
Groceries, restaurants, etc.. Any advice, especially from those persons in Florence or those who have lived there before is greatly appreciated.

Depends if you want to live there “as a local” or “as a tourist” (off the beach / no view or vice versa) and how nice you want it to be. Lincoln City’s Chamber of Commerce provides some links which may have prices: http://www.lcchamber.com/apartments.html.
Florence doesn’t have a lot of info on the net. Not sure what to tell you except maybe call a Realtor in the area and ask if they have a list of non-vacation rentals or know where to get one.

You will not find an inexpensive car rental for your travel. Although borders are open in Europe car rental is still limited on the various countries. This means your rented car has to be transported back to Germany. Only international operating companies are offering that service but ask for a tremendous one-way fee (Einweggebühr). In your case it would be €476.00 in addition to the rental fee.

I’ve looked at Auto Europe, and they have city location via Forlanini,2 and via Borgo Ognissanti. I will be arriving by train and want to pick up car and get out of town by easy route. Is anyone familiar with those locations? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Viamichelin is a good site for driving directions here. http://www.viamichelin.com/ The via Borgo Ognissanti location is more convenient to the Santa Maria Novella train station. There isn’t a huge difference with respect to getting out of the city.
I always just take public transportation when I go to San Gimignano. You can take the train to Poggibonsi. When you get there, bus tickets are sold in the bar (coffee shop) at the end of the station. The bus stop is at the main street just up the hill from the station on the same side of the street.
