Eradicating poverty in Haiti, can my plan be done?

1

Question : Eradicating poverty in Haiti, can my plan be done?
Haiti is the poorest nation in the Caribbean, and the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. The poverty in Haiti is equal to the poverty of South Asia and Africa. But it was not always that way. What was once considered the Pearl of the Caribbean is now considered a nightmare on earth. Here is my plan to eliminate the poverty that has gripped the island nation of 8 million.

First I would have scientist, doctors, construction workers, nurses, psychologists, and governments around the world to help in my plan. The plan will be divided into three stages. Clean up stage, Structure Stage, and the Development stage. During the Clean up stage we will move into Haiti and clean up the streets (click link to see what I mean: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Port-au-Price2007.jpg )
We will create and implement a recycling system to help. During the Structure stage we will build environmentally friendly schools, homes, and buildings. We will create a city that will be known as the Las Vegas of Haiti to help increase tourism, and to help bring in income. During the Development stage we will continue to monitor the situation and help to bring business to the nation. Eradicating poverty (or sharply reducing poverty) in Haiti. What do you think of my plan.

It would be a good start, but it will take more than one city to help eliminate poverty in an entire country. Most importantly it will take the help of the Haitian government. In many cases countries are poor because the government is stealing money and not using it to invest in schools, energy, food, etc…The government will also have to lower taxes and trade barriers to attract new businesses. With a lot of money and even more hard work, your plan could work. Thinking about a career in politics?

What would you be saying if President Palin had done what President Obama has done to date?

Question : What would you be saying if President Palin had done what President Obama has done to date?
President Palin’s First 100 Days

WASHINGTON (AP) — The first 100 days of the Palin presidency, according to a consensus of media commentators, have proven a near disaster. Perhaps it was Palin’s scant two years’ experience in a major government position that has eroded her gravitas, or maybe it was her flirty reliance on looks and informal chit-chat. In any case, the press has had a field day, and it is hard to see how President Palin can ever recover from the Quayle/potatoe syndrome. Here is a roundup of this week’s pundit mockery.

LET THEM EAT MOOSE
“Ted Stevens may have gotten off,” wrote Bob Herbert in the New York Times, “but he taught our Sarah something first — like using $ 100-a-pound beef for her state dinners. And what’s this $ 50 mil for her inauguration gala? Since when do you fly in your favorite pizza-maker from across the country on our dime? Or send the presidential 747 for a spin over the Big Apple for a third-of-a-million-dollar joyride? Does Palin think she’s still in Alaska and has to have everything flown in from the South 48 by jumbo jet?”

WASILLA CHIC
Also in the Times, Gail Collins weighed in on the already-tired yokelism of the new commander in chief. “What we’re getting is Wasilla chic. That’s what we’re getting. She arrives in the Oval Office, and first thing sends back Blair’s gift of the Churchill bust as if it’s a once-worn Penney’s outfit. Then she gives the Brits some unwatchable DVDs as a booby prize — as if she idled the old Yukon and ran into Target’s sale aisle. Did Sarah send Bristol into Wal-Mart back in Anchorage for that ‘engraved’ iPod for the queen? And what’s this don’t-bow-to-the-queen stuff, but curtsy for a Saudi sheik? Maybe that explains why she brags to Stephanopoulos about her ‘Muslim faith.’ So far, the best things going for her are Todd’s biceps.”

IT’S THE MATH, STUPID!
“Well,” lectured Paul Krugman, again in the Times, “we were worried that they didn’t teach math at Idaho U., and now we know for sure they don’t. Is it $ 1.6 trillion, $ 1.7 trillion, or $ 2 trillion in red ink this year? Are we supposed to be impressed that she offers ‘fiscal sobriety’ by cutting 0.003 percent of the budget? She gives out money to those who don’t pay taxes and calls it a tax cut. And now Queen Sarah tells us that in four years she’ll ‘halve’ the deficit, as if she hasn’t borrowed another $ 5 trillion in the meantime. Does she think we’re morons? How many ‘Drill, baby, drill!’ oil wells can she tap into up there in Alaska to pay for the extra $ 11 trillion in debt she’s saddling us with?”

WORSE THAN ‘NUCULAR’
ABC’s Katie Couric summed up the general disappointment with the president’s communication skills. “I tried to warn the American people in that interview a few years back what they would get if they voted for her. Let’s face it: She’s a walking embarrassment. I mean just count ’em up: The mayor of Wasilla thinks Austrians speak some lingo called ‘Austrian.’ Then she tries her hand at Spanish and comes up with some concoction, ‘Cinco de Cuatro.’ Next thing she’ll walk into the window of the Oval Office and expect it to open — oops, she’s already done that. No wonder that when her Teleprompter stalls, she shuts her mouth until it catches up. I’m surprised she managed to get sworn in. And did she think that tasteless ‘Special Olympics’ slur was funny? Or making fun of octogenarian Nancy Reagan’s séances? No wonder Wanda Sykes feels at home.”

ANCHORAGE STYLE
A “dragon lady in heels” is what President Palin is, according to the NYT’s Frank Rich. “Don’t fall for this pageant nice-girl stuff. Our former beauty queen is a ward hack. Look at her nominations. Can’t Palin find anyone who has paid his taxes — or do they simply ignore that stuff in no-tax Alaska? Does ‘No more lobbyists’ mean ‘More lobbyists than ever’? Her chief performance overseer doesn’t perform too well herself — and, like Daschle, Geithner, and the rest, skips out on her taxes. When Palin brags about fiscal sobriety, it really means record deficits. In Sarahland, not wanting to take over banks and car companies translates into, ‘She already has.’ Highest ethical standards equates to ‘There are none.’ Calling herself the VA president means she’s just told vets to use their own health insurance.”

GUTTER TRASH
“Pretty crude, pretty petty,” Sally Quinn sighed in the Washington Post. “No manners at all. Does our new mom in chief think it’s neat to laugh when her court jester at the correspondents’ dinner calls Michael Moore a traitor and a terrorist — and hopes he dies of kidney failure? Is that funny? Ask those on dialysis. Is that what Alaskan hockey moms do — scream out at every talk-show host who hurts their itty-bitty feelings? Limbaugh, Hannity — who will it will be next? Poor old Jim Cramer?”

NEOCON CON
“She’s a Bush clone,” the Times’s Maureen Dowd chimed in. “Bush is out, Palin is in — but we keep getting renditions, military tribunals, wiretaps, e-mail intercepts, Predator drone e

Does new car maintenance have to be done by a dealer?

6

Question : Does new car maintenance have to be done by a dealer?
I hope to buy a new car next year. The problem is the brand of car I am interested in does not have a dealer near my home. I live in a rural area. If I am required to go to a location that has a brand name dealer I will be driving about 230 miles just for something simple like an oil change! I would think they would require this in order for my warranty to be honored but thought I would ask and see if anyone knows this answer for sure. Thank you in advance for your help,.

With the Best VoIP Phone Service International Telecom Is Done?

0

A year ago, experts thought

, perhaps VoIP Phone International is a technology hype. But not today! Companies like Vonage, eBay (Skype) and iBasis (Pingo) uses technology to their advantage to take the lead in the VoIP market. In addition, companies such as Cisco, Linksys, Earthlink and even Microsoft is trying to take advantage of this technology and capture a piece of this fascinating market. But that’s not all. Voice over IP took a significant part of communication.

One of the questions that any new technology is, the high cost of change for consumers. In other words, there are many great new technologies to market. But if it makes sense financially for the consumer to decide for these new technologies, they will not happen. The key for innovators is conversion to keep costs as low as possible. Companies such as Vonage and Skype have done just that. These companies make the switching process easy and convenient, as long as one has access to broadband Internet. They also offer many additional features over the standard phone service at a much lower price. In this sense, the customers have nothing to lose and much to gain. Even easier for companies like Pingo people enjoy the same low VoIP long-distance calls by dialing a local number from their land or even their cell phone.

According to Jupiter Research, companies have begun to move to VoIP services more quickly. There are several reasons for this. First, as already mentioned, the switching costs are reasonably low. In addition, the best VoIP phone service international networks are managed effectively and companies to save a considerable sum of money from circuit-switched connections to VoIP.

One of the services such as Voice over IP has a great influence on the calling card service had. Some calling card service when using the best international phone VoIP service, reduce costs and pass these savings to their customers successful. For example, iBasis offers, which is the first international service provider of phone card, its customers prices that are significantly lower than Verizon. There are many companies that a similar strategy to nibble market share in the communications market adopted. Even if these companies are cutting costs, are the real winners of consumers, the savings of up to 50% of their monthly phone bill.

Many telecommunications companies are struggling to cope with the new generation of communications companies. Companies like Skype and Vonage have much market share of traditional fixed telephony business acquired. Most of the companies decided to compete head to head with this new breed have already closed or to the point. However, some of these companies with VoIP technology, have chosen to adopt or companies form alliances or partnerships decided.

The market for international VoIP phone service is very promising and many new players are set to join the competition in this market. Of course, the first owner of an advantage over newcomers. However, it is too early to make plans to play a leading role in this relatively young market has been booming. But one thing is clear: VoIP has changed the dynamic communications market always

I’m currently looking at buying a home, and the seller had a home inspection done already. Do I need another?

5

Question : I’m currently looking at buying a home, and the seller had a home inspection done already. Do I need another?
The listing agent provided me with the home inspection that was done by an independent, certified home inspector (very reputable). It was done about 9 months ago and no one has lived in the house since. It seems extremely thorough, covering everything about the property, including electrical/plumbing/foundation issues. Do I need to have another one done, or should this one be sufficient?

I’d do another one just to be safe. The certified inspector could be a relative, family friend etc. Do another one because a home is the most expensive thing that you will own.

Any surveys done to determine Boomers’ criteria for choosing a place to live after retirement?

2

Question : Any surveys done to determine Boomers’ criteria for choosing a place to live after retirement?
I’m looking for any surveys done, such by AARP or some other organization, to identify what criteria Boomers say they use (or will use) when choosing where to live after retirement. By criteria I mean things like warm weather, promixity to health care, affordable housing…that sort of thing. I can guess what the criteria might be, but it would nice to see a survey that validates (or disproves) my thoughts. This is research for a book.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciate. Thanks to all who contribute.

I think that the best you will find is data on where they actually go.
I’m somewhat older than the boomers, what is called a “depression baby”. I’m a member of the AARP and some other oldephart organizations, and a member of the Gallup and other polls, and don’t remember any such survey or results of any such survey. Good luck.
