I’ve been to Building Inspection which is a Division of the
Development Services Department, with main offices at 320 E. Jefferson Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75203, telephone 214-948-
4480. COMPLETE JOKE. They can’t advise you on where you need to go or any detailed information that you may need to obtain. So that a person can proceed. I have the site map of my property. The Company literature that states the specs of the carport. Carport will be detached. Walls are 7 ft east and west. North and South walls are open. Pitch of the roof is 10 ft. I have the building draw to scale dimensions. ( I may be saying that incorrectly ) Has anyone in Dallas been approved for a permit and if so, what advice can you provide? Thanks in advance. SB.

try the planning com, there the ones that issue the permits,
if they cant help call the mayor and complain,

Question : What is the best a detached or attached garage?
So I am building a custom home in Atlanta and I cannot decide what should I do the detached or attached garage, so what does everybody think I should go with? Growing up I always had a detached garage. I like the idea of having the guest suite over the garage and separate from the house. I am thinking a three car garage.
Another question for my fellow Atlantans is would you chose Buckhead or Druid Hills? I bought properties in both places because I am going to sell the one I do not build on? (I am demolishing the structures on the one I use to build my custom home)
I would love the pros and cons of both, please!

The pro of an attached garage is convenience & shelter from the weather going from home to garage & vice versa. In Atlanta, the weather factor isn’t as important than it is in the snow belt. The other pro is that an attached garage may be less likely to be broken into. The con of an attached garage is the threat of a possible fire in the garage from gasoline or other stored combustibles to spread way too easily to the house structure. You could always construct a fire retardant covered walkway from the house to the garage using a steel structure.

I would call your homeowner’s insurance company to see if the rates differ substantially from one to the other.

1st time home buyer. Need to know asap. Was excited of buying. They advertise at 191K for 3 bedrooms, etc in Palmdale CA. They build and give it to you in 5 months. Will I own the land like a detached? The inside only like a condominium? Im very confused. Is it convenient to buy?

The condo part means you own a portion of the entire land. But it can never be separated like in a free standing house.
