Why aren’t the mortgage companies and Banks resetting home loans to current value?

2

Question : Why aren’t the mortgage companies and Banks resetting home loans to current value? I was told that the mortgage companies and banks are going to reset (re-write) home loans starting on Oct 1st. Why are they waiting so long? If they re-set the loans now they will receive monthly payments and people will stay in their homes. If they continue to wait until oct 1st more people will be walking out on their homes cause they cant make the higher payments. This same greed has caused the problem, the banks should take what they can now and not loose more money. mortgage companies

Thoughts on buying a car or repairing current?

Question : Thoughts on buying a car or repairing current? We have a Dodge Stratus 2002. It needs a transmission rebuild. The rest of the car is in good shape (the mechanic said). The rebuild is going to cost 2600 and we need new tires which are an additional 200. Options: Repair this car that’s worth 3000 Blue Book or Buy another vehicle. I’ve always read if repairs cost more than half the value then buy another car.

Other factors influencing decision that are important to take into account financially. Currently we don’t have a car loan (thank goodness). We would have to get a car More >

New property mgmt taking over soon, can I opt out of my current lease?

Question : New property mgmt taking over soon, can I opt out of my current lease? The property management for our apartment complex is changing soon. We currently have a lease w/ the existing property manager through the spring of 2008. The new property mgmt will be taking over our leases soon, and I believe we will have to re-sign with them. However, they are changing policies including their pet policy, which will increase our rent.

Where should I look to find out if I have the right to opt out before the new property mgmt takes over? Will there be an item in their lease that mentions More >

Question : Would you pass up on a great full-time job if your current work at home 50 hrs per month job can lead to more? I am currently working for a great small marketing agency from my home (the agency is about 2.5 hours drive from my house), but at the moment, the owner just allows me up to 50 hours per month. He has promised me that this job can become full time eventually as he is finding me more projects to work on. Also, he is allowing me to work on sales opportunities for us (not as paid hourly, but once the sales go through–I’ll get straight commission)…This owner has been really More >

current owner has NOT pay her property tax bill, will I be liable?

Question : current owner has NOT pay her property tax bill, will I be liable? I am interested in a 500 sq feet condo in NJ. I found out the current owner has NOT pay her property tax bill since Dec 2008 (accumulated about $ 3000 with interest in back property taxes). Also for a small size condo like this, should I even get a home inspection, which might cost about $ 300 to 400? The current owner told me there is no need for a home inspection because the structure is sound for the entire building, which has 9 units of condo. If anyone body can give me some insight, thanks home inspection More >
