Question : Which Disney Vacation Club resort is best to buy into?
If I didn’t care about the expiration (34 yrs or 46, or 49) which resort (Old Key West, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge, Hilton Head, Saratoga Springs) is best to buy resale? What are the pros and cons of each?

(No to Vero Beach due to high Maintenence fees and no to Animal Kingdom since I want to buy cheaper in resale)

For me…Villas at Wilderness Lodge, hands down. It’s the best place to stay for the widest range of people. Nix on Saratoga and OKW–just too far away. If you are sure no kids will ever come, then Beach Club and Boardwalk are well-located for adults…both equally convenient, I have a soft spot for Boardwalk. AKL and the new DVC being built at the Contemporary are too new for me to have an opinion on…and I know nothing about Vero beach…

Question : Should I join the Disney Vacation Club?
My husband and I used to go to Disney every summer. We have often tried looking in to buying a Disney timeshare, but I find that even Disney’s CD and booklet do not give clear information about it. I’m not sure if financially it is worth it, considering the different fees. Can anyone share their personal experiences with the DVC? Is it worth the money? Or is it a huge financial drain? Also, if I do buy, should I buy a resale or purchase through Disney?

If you have a substantial income, this may be something you can fit into your budget -
but it is a profit making business for Disney.

It is more cost effective to research the very good deals that are available – they are offered to keep people coming during lower traffic times of the year.

Question : DVC Disney Vacation Club sale and resale info?
My wife and I are looking to buy into the DVC or Disney Vacation Club.
We have looked at the numbers and they look good.
I was wondering if anyone has any info that might help

Just some more info. We are about to pick our home resort at Animal Kingdom. Points are at $ 112 per point and we will then get a $ 15 a point discount. If we buy by this Sunday, we will then get our total points again, so we will double our points in one day. We were going to make our home resort at California for same deal but we wanted Animal Kingdom so us and our kids can see the animals walking outside our windows. So we are happy about this.

Does anyone know or have stayed at Animal Kingdom and know what floor is the best to see the animals?

Do you have anything to say about any of the other resorts?

I stayed at Old Key West many years ago as a hotel with my wife when she was my G/F (shhhhh don’t tell) and it was wonderful. We just truly want the animals for our kids.

Check out the DVC section at www.disboards.com. The people there are real experts. I haven’t purchased yet, but I almost feel like an expert on DVC now for hanging out there so much. I also know that resales are popular, it seems like a lot of people purchase theirs through www.dvc-resales.com a.k.a The Timeshare Store. You get all of the same perks as buying directly from Disney, except these are older contracts, meaning resorts that you usually can’t buy into Direct from Disney, since Disney tends to only be selling their newest resorts. Resales are much cheaper, they average maybe $ 80/point- depending where you go, and you can purchase smaller contracts and add on later as you may need, or can afford. There are some cons with resales, such as some of the older contracts being sold aren’t for the newest extended timeframe, they expire a bit earlier- but not all and your salesperson should know all about that. You also pay a yearly fee based on your points, so older resorts may have higher fees, which can add up if you have a ton of points. Know that each contract has a banking month, which means if you can’t use your points for the year then you have to bank by that month. I haven’t quite figured out how the banking month works, but I know they say it’s important. :)

Geo holiday is a vacation club with over 20,000 members and has access to over 70 home resorts and another 3,500 resorts through its affiliation with RCI. They have been in business for over 20 years.

They mostly sell their memberships in Canada but also have sales offices in the US. If you want more info on how to become a member of GeoHolidays visit their website at www.geoholiday.com.

my wife and i have been members for over 15 years and we have been to great locations like Costa Rica, Sint Maarten, the Domincan and even France using our Geo Holiday membership. We wouldn’t trade it for the world!
