Is it good for small businesses or work décent.J’ve heard a lot about the growth of SK .. It is oil-related (in the jobs I mean) has or a person with marketing background a good chance to get a job. I’m currently in Toronto.
answer by Louis C
several reasons for the boom in SK …. Oil is one of them and creates jobs …. Another is to recognize residents who seek SK left to greener pastures in Alberta, that the pastures are green, as in Saskatchewan, and at a fraction of the price. This reverse migration is a little inflation, but remains well below the likes of Edmonton and Calgary.Ayant between Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatoon choose, I would choose … but it is a personal decision. By the way, I live in Winnipeg, so I’m completely unbiased.
Career advice for the healthcare field?
0Question : Career advice for the healthcare field?
Hello,
I’m trying to decide what to go back to school for. Hello,
I live in Augusta, GA and will most likely need to stay in the area. I currently have a Bachelor’s degree in Equine Facility Management but due to a physical injury, its not very useful now. So I would like to go back to school for a health care related degree, but would like some advice as to what I should go for. I really liked the radiology technology at Augusta Tech at first, but then I read about all the people who can’t find jobs. I really just need a career I can depend on to make a living on. I don’t want to get rich, but I need to know I can count on having a job with the degree. I would like to start out with an Associate degree, but I’m willing to go back to school after I’m more financially secure. So I would really appreciate any feedback or advice anyone can give me.
Thanks so much!
Jessica

Well you can get an associates in Radiology and go back and get certification in Radiation therapy or get a B.S. in clinical radiation sciences and with a concentration in radiation therapy or nuclear medicine technology. I know that this field is anticipated to grow as the baby boomer generation matures.

L and D is a hard field to break into because so many people want to stay there. It does not have to be an accredited school as long as you pass boards and have some med surg experience. You need to be an RN not an LPN and an associates RN is fine. Oh and the pay is much higher than that. Base pay at our cheap hospital is 38/hr that is straight dayshift, their is shift differential and whip weekend programs.

Esthetician Vs. Property Management Career?” See Below>>> Please.”?
I am a middle aged lady. My looks are holding up pretty well.. I do look a lot younger then my age. I am at this time helping my mother who lives with me battle cancer. She has helped me in these economic hardships.. and with a bad car accident I had a few years ago. I lost my job last year. I am signed up with a program that offered to pay for me to obtain marketable skills. I was wanting to go take a 5 month course in Estheology.. to become an Esthetician. However.. I read countless blogs.. Although the spa industries have not been drastically effected by the economy.. because of the caliber of people who go to them.. that never seem to run out of money.. Some people said they couldn’t find work or had to supplement their income. I called around.. and one spa told me they pay hourly plus commission and tips. Some were doing well.. some were not. I was torn and desperate due to my circumstances here with my mother and I have been helping her a lot. It only takes five months.. for this program then the licensing.. I am single still. I will rely on just my income. The Esthetician costs a lot 10 grand that I would have to take out… a student loan. The next option was the one the program approved for me Property Management. The school cost.. not books.. would be paid for me.. which is a lot…… cheaper. But.. it does not include computer classes.. that I will in addition to have to take and pay for. .. at the Community College. I am so… not interested in.. or good at Computers.. I may sound like an idiot here.. but.. I sat in a class and left.. it was like latin to me. I have my personal computer.. but.. chatting.. and checking email..and doing research is my extent. To me its Super complicated. That being said.. I used to work with an older man who use to daily.. tell me.. “Do What You Love And The Money Will Follow”… He also told me about this successful man he once knew who worked as the CEO of RollX Watches.. and he made billions and hated his job he told him. He said he wanted to be a comedian.. and end up taking his life instead. He did not want to do it .. with the risk of the money he was then addicted to making.. It was a double edged sword. Well.. The property management course would in total with the extra computer classes take me about a year and half to finish up..all. The instructor is an attorney and said she has a lot of employer connections interested in students and not enough students to fill the jobs. She said I would make only salary and start at 30 a year. To me the job leads and steady salary and income was what I was attracted to most. Not the job. Not the computer knowledge I despise. I want to be self supporting and not worry about getting the hours.. or clients.. although esthetician is much more me. I could branch out and do make up… or alternative modalities incorporated into having a side business. I see the people doing what they love.. who are So Much happier then those doing what they have to do to survive. I am afraid I may be choosing this for the right reason… but the wrong job for me. In this Property Management Program.. I would be able to get a Real Estate and Brokers License from this.. and work from home for myself. I watch those shows where the Realators or Brokers.. travel to other countries to sell millions dollar vacation homes.. That part sounds appealing to me.. But.. being a Property Manager.. doesn’t as much no. I would be cooped inside OR.. maybe showing apartments and doing office work. I am not sure.. if I could take just courses to be a broker or Real estate and broker or not alone or in addition to the Esthetician. I suppose my fear is that I won’t find work or would be homeless. I don’t want to be… but.. I want to be happy and do what I enjoy. Like I said.. I would not mind and am able to travel to sell vacation homes.. but that to me is not your typical Property Management job. Please help.. Thank You

I’m a property manger and I love it. You do not stay cooped up as there is much to be done. You are usually delegating not showing apartments. That is for the leasing agent to do. Your job is to ensure operational functions are going smooth. It is a lot of work but very rewarding.

Apartment staging as a career?
0Question : Apartment staging as a career?
I saw in the movie leap year that Anna( Amy Adams) is an apartment stager. Was that her actual job or just because she was going to sell their apartment?
Is Apartment staging an actual job or is it just when your going to sell your own apartment? I love the idea of decorating houses and I want to choose between apartment staging or being an Interior Decorator. Any tips on which I should choose, which one pays better?
Thanks so much!

Oh no, apartment or more often house staging is a real profession. Out here in California in the more high priced urban communities, the majority of vacant and unfurnished homes are being staged for sale (ordered by the Realtor). Staging a 1,600 sq.ft. house costs about $ 2,000-$ 2,500 for the first two months, and an extra $ 500-$ 600 for each additional month the furniture/decor are being used. These home staging services have their own warehouse with the furniture and knick-knacks, so there would be a substantial initial expense in setting up shop. You may get a job with an established firm and there gain enough experience to later help you set up your own business.
Transportation/Logistics masters degree with Information Technology background = What kind of career?
0Question : Transportation/Logistics masters degree with Information Technology background = What kind of career?
I’m getting my masters degree in Transportation and Logistics Management, and I have 7 years experience working in IT doing PC support, most recently contracting with state government. What kind of careers put those together?
I’m not looking to do helpdesk at a logistics facility or anything… i’d rather get out of IT in that capacity.

Answer by Meg…In Hiding
Depending on the depth of your IT background, you could have a promising career as a technical coordinator for transportation/logistics. What this includes is finding out how technology can be used for your company, determining the hardware/software costs, determining the functional capacity of the hardware/software, integrating the hardware/software, and managing the installation and maintenance of the hardware/software. This really makes your title a roving one. In this capacity, you will transition from a project coordinator to a project manager to a technical manager of some sort. The only problem is convincing the company that they need this level of technology and someone to manage it.
I’m a latecomer at kicking off my career, where should I start?
0Question : I’m a latecomer at kicking off my career, where should I start?
Three simple questions, but please excuse the details.
I’m 24 years old, female, living in Jakarta Indonesia, and a sophomore in college studying communication management. I’m quite knowledgeable at basic business administration, public relations, marketing, world cultures, philosophy and public speaking, and am a gifted trilingual.
Previous jobs I’ve had include hosting a radio talk show, producing a theatre production, hosting concerts and seminars as master of ceremony (MC), interpreting, translating, make up artist, and HR intern at a small company marketing consumer goods. The problem is, I’ve never achieved anything consistently significant in these jobs because they’re mostly project based and I didn’t network enough to consistently have projects on my plate. And because I always seem to be starting over, I’ve never made enough money to support myself either.
Other challenges that have stopped me from launching a career were mostly personal, such as abusive relationships, family conflict, and very frequent international relocations in my late teens & early twenties. While I’ve done my best to detach my private life from my professional setting, I still subconsciously carry a lot of emotional baggage that I don’t even know is there. This has affected the way I make decisions and relate to people. I am, however, getting help in dealing with this baggage, and expect that I will recover once I start seeing results in my professional life (i.e. reputation, sustainable achievements, and money).
I had meant to start working last year, but abandoned a pending job offer orted the plan when I got trapped into producing a theater production for a businessman who casted this vision of a great theater company but did nothing to follow it up. Before this, my confidence level in entering the workforce had been recovering and I was excited about starting to work… but since the theater company didn’t work out as expected, I feel like a loser who had been cheated on again. However, I don’t want to create an identity as one who never finishes what she started, so we decided to press on by doing street performances for charity. In the meantime I will spend less time working there and more time on finding a real job that I love, makes a difference in the lives of others, and makes money.
The thing is, at this point I feel lost, and need to recover my confidence that had corroded when the theater company missed my expectations. If I didn’t feel that way, I could probably see my options more clearly and have more courage to make wise decisions.
I want a career that fits my talent and passion (i.e. writing, speaking, and conceptualising creative ideas). Other than creative writing and public speaking, I don’t really have much experience or expertise, but I do know a little bit about a lot of stuff and am a fast learner. People have told me that I am intelligent, good looking, and drive extra miles to produce excellent results. I prefer jobs that aren’t set in an office, are deadline oriented but flexible with hours and methods, and facilitate me to meet a myriad people who are beneficial to my professional network.
Anyhow, it boils down to these three questions:
1. What jobs should I consider, where can I learn more about them, and how can I network so that I can consistently have plenty of options when it comes to choosing my projects?
2. Which competitive edges should I sell, so that people will want to hire me although I’m about to hit quarter life and have limited experience?
3. What are some practical things I can do to pick myself up so I don’t get too bogged down with the emotional baggage and have more confidence & energy to break through with my career?
Thank you so much! God bless you.

Wow, just reading your question made me feel stupid compared to you. Geez, you have lots of experience. Strong work ethics. I don’t even know what to say, im afraid that you’ll think im dumb haha. Well anyways i would suggest going into politics. There you can speak out, work hard, drive your ideas to reality.
Or you can try your hand in Hollywood, Bollywood. It will be hard and lots of leaps of faith but with a brain like yours you can manage it.
Everybody has there falls. Just depends how high you bounce back up. Don’t kick yourself to hard. Hope this helps. Im sure you knew all this already. Good luck.
