I am in the process of applying for an internship in South Africa (Cape Town) doing sustainable development, urban planning, housing/homelessness projects. I was wondering if anyone has been to Cape Town and can give me a feel of the social enviornment there. I am not white. I am Filipino and Japanese, will I stand out in a bad way? Is racism prevalent there? Is it safe? Anything about the area is great information.

Also, another more general question. Have you studied abroad, and was it worth the money? This will end up costing me around 4 thousand dollars for 3 months. Which is actually pretty cheap compared to other programs.

Yes I have been in South Africa for 30 Years, I stayed in Cape Town for 7 years and no you wont stand out because it is a mixture of culture, racism is every were in the world. It depends on the area were you going to help, the townships there is dangerous only if you go in at night. The people in Cape Town is very friendly. oops I almost forgot the beach in Blaauburg is vreesing cold.

This past July 1st, I told my landlord that I had to break my lease (I was being transferred to another city). He said that he would try to work w/ me to try and work something out. Since then, he transferred the property and the lease to a local property management company. They have no desire to let me out of my lease and have done little to help to try and lease the property. Is there any recourse w/ this management firm?

i didnt like the old kingdom in seattle,wa- i was there in 1996 i had seats in the outfield and there were only blechers in the outfield. i also hate the metrodome in minneapolis- home of the twins-damn you have to take an elevator to get to another level to get nachos. plus the seats are steep and your out of breath by the time you get to the top. i feel very sorry for the people who sale food/drinks in the stands

my favorite has to be petro park-i live in san diego and my another favorite is coors field in denver and atlanta stadium

I went SF last year and the two main stages where actually not that far apart. But it doesn’t disrupt the music, when your watching a band you don’t notice other stages. Then there are other stages spread out other places. Getting out of the crowd isn’t that hard cause people are glad to go in front of you but it would be impossible to get back into your spot obviously. But I would suggest using the bathroom in between bands. I don’t think the area really changes Warped tour that much. The fact that is by a bunch of shops is cool.. last year I got slushies at 711 afterward :P
