I am planning on finishing off my basement. However, the concrete floor is cracking and crumbling.?

Question : I am planning on finishing off my basement. However, the concrete floor is cracking and crumbling.? Do I need to break it all up and haul it out? Or can I cover it with another product? There is limited headspace so if I can just cover it up, it would have to be with a product that wouldn’t add anymore than 2 inches. Any ideas? The concrete was poured in the 50′s or early 60′s. Thank-you! finished basement floor plans

Question : I did a visual inspection for mold in my basement but I couldn’t find anything, could there still be mold? I just finished searching my basement for mold, and I couldn’t find any. I did this because I would sometimes get a headache when I went into the basement and my nose would almost always start to run. The air in my basement is cold and seemingly dry, so it could have just been because of this.

2 questions about renovating a basement?

Question : 2 questions about renovating a basement? I am closing on a house later this month and have started thinking about possible ways to renovate the finished basement (this would be FAR in the future). This is my first house so I don’t know if these questions are obvious or ridiculous, but I thought I might as well ask:

The basement has wood paneling walls and I was wondering if there are anyways to change these short of ripping them out and starting all over again.

Also, during the inspection the inspector said that the floor tiles were in good shape but most likely had asbestos More >
