Just got the offer letter.Everything is good except the relocation cost reimbursement being a little dispointing.
In the offer negotiation stage, I focused on the salary and ended up in getting 10+ grands more than the initial offer.
During the on-site interview, VP mentioned reimbursement
at a larger mount. I remember he cited the current number
when we discussed salary several weeks later, but I chose not to bring attention to that at the moment just in order to avoid distraction on the salary discussion. For the amount they offered, it would be really tight considering the distance. The exact phrase is “not to exceed a total of $ xxxx without prior approval”. So I think my options are:
(1) Just say I am happy for everything they have to offer and sign. Then stay extremely cost-sensitive in moving and swallow extra.
(2) Sign the letter and move with some effort to save money. Negotiate if the cost is above offered.
(3) Stating the amount too tight, & hint higher number was cited.

I had the same thing happen to me during a relocation.
The fact that they stated “not to exceed without prior approval” shows that they lowballed the figure.
Go with Option 3.
Also, use their relocation company instead of a cheap one you find on your own. You will still pay for it, but the service will be a LOT better.
