This home was purchased in the late 40′s or early 50′s and at that time it was a corner home. When Willis divorced Flora Baker-Lester who sold the home and moved to concord and is now deceased. The original price was between $ 9,500 and $ 10,500. I am the widow of Willis Baker we were married in 1971 and he passed away in 2003.

Willis had no legal right to any funds from the sale of his former home by his x-wife Flora.
They were divorced at the time of the sale,and I assume since Flora was in the home after the divorce that she was awarded the propety as hers solely ,which was very commom at the time.
If however ,the property was to be sold as A condition of the divorce and the funds were to be divided, you may need to petition the estate of Flora in an attempt to collect on behalf of your deceased husband (that is if you were willed to recieve his entire estate)
Your best course of action would be to consult a lawyer.
You can also find the price ,date,etc of that sale in the public records in the county where the property is located

Question : whats the best way to address your landlord (property management) when your rent check bounces?
I’ve lived at my place for 8yrs as of May and Ive only bounced one check with them back in 02. But the story is I payed rent in March, then in April, but when I went to pay my taxes I saw that the check for the month of March had not cleared yet so off went my tax payment and I called my property management and told them to look into it, they said they had not recieved a check for the month of March so basically the check is lost so I stop payment and re-issue a check for that month, and I also give them a check for the month of May well one of the checks cleared but the other one did’nt, I deposited money into the account this evening but they already returned the check. I feel so bad,drained, and embarrased, the manager of my place is always so rude how should I approach this situation?

In the past 12 months to Q3 2010 rose only 0.1% of the national wage
o Only 5 of the 20 metros have 12 months salary increases of more than 0.1%

Baltimore (1.6%), St. Louis (0.6%), Washington DC (0.5%), the City of New York (0.4%) and Phoenix (0.4%)
o Only 6 of 15 industries have 12 months salary increases of more than 0.1%

Utilities (0.8%), mining and oil and gas (0.6%), finance (0.5%), health (0.2%), transport (0, 2%) and retail ( 0.2%)
The worst time to full-time employees in the private sector salaries since 2006, six months between Q4 2008 and Q2 2009, when wages fell by 1.3%.
In the last quarter, Q3 2010, there were no indications at the national level, rising real wages and purchasing power:
o Real wages are up by 0.1% over the previous quarter

I need a virtual address. Suggestions?

Question : I need a virtual address. Suggestions?
I live in D.C., but I’m looking to move to Atlanta, so I’m in job search mode. I know many employers poo poo out of state candidates, so I need to find a way to secure an out of state address to put on my resume.

The lady at the post office told me that I can’t set up an out of state PO Box until I move down there, so that’s not an option. I don’t know anyone down there so using someone else’s address isn’t an option and. Mailboxes etc. didn’t work either. I’ve done a google search and can’t find anything.

Does anyone know a way around this? What worked for you?

I was going to suggest MailStores etc. but if you can’t do it without being there personally, then I would suggest to drive down on a Sunday, take care of establishing a PO or mail box at a store including all the forwarding to your present address on Monday morning, pick up all of the local Sunday papers, and head back home on Monday afternoon. If you are working/living in DC you only loose one workday that way, and you can have your mail forwarded to home… While you are there – you might want to drop off a few prepared resumes at jobs of interest. Might as well since you there already…

Picking up the Sunday papers gives you a lot of potential FRESH! leads to go on, as not every business advertises on-line or has a web presence. Plus you also get the real estate sections and can look into your housing expenses etc. as well…

Be prepared to do this trip on short notice if you get called for an interview – else don’t bother. Atlanta is hot and very competitive – if you don’t show or are not available when you are offered an interview – Next please!
