My wife and I discovered this subtropical paradise in 2002 after a family vacation in Key West. We sent the children home early for Christmas, our extended vacation and drove to the Fort Myers / Cape Coral from us. Over the next week we discovered a lovely chain of islands off the coast of southwest Florida. Like pearls on a chain in an azure sea, surf all they offered sand, sun and fun and a lot of good fishing. Each was unique and each begged to be explored.

Run from the south to north, the first major island off the coast of Fort Myers Estero is Iceland, home to the small beach town of Ft. Myers Beach. This is Southwest Florida version of Miami Beach, but on a smaller scale. North of there you will discover the magical islands of Sanibel, Captiva, North Captiva, Cayo Costa and Gasparilla Iceland with the City of Boca Grande, where the billionaires live and play. Interior to these islands are two large water body called Pine Iceland Sound and Charlotte Harbor. Seventeen miles long Pine Iceland is the largest of the Inner Islands. Useppa, Cabbage Key and dozens and dozens of other mangrove-fringed islands are found within the Pine Iceland sound. This vast area includes the second largest estuary in Florida. It is fed by three major rivers in the south and the Myakka and Peace Rivers in the north Caloosahatchee.

This estuary is home to abundant life in the sea. Sport fishermen come here for snook, redfish, trophy tarpon, grouper, snapper, shark, and dozens of other species. Waterfowl and wading birds inhabit the area in large numbers along with a smaller population of manatees and alligators. Fresh Gulf shrimp are the best in the world and delicious Southwest Florida Stone Crab are found nowhere else.

I have sailors who tell me, this area offers some of the finest sailing in the world meets. If you’re a sailor, you’ll be at home in the Gulf, bays or the Intercoastal Waterway. The boats are great down here! Fishermen will find plenty of water and fish here, to give them to occupy a lifetime. The beaches are world class and fire is a local pastime. It is Coastal Living at its finest.

A lifelong angler, I learned that Southwest Florida Lee Iceland Coast a 12-month window offers fishing and boating with all the comforts and necessities of life. No sacrifices are necessary here! They have hospitals, restaurants, cinemas, doctors, shopping centers and to make all the ingredients for a good life and a great retirement! The fishing is great and the people are friendly. Golfers note, this area is a mecca for golfers! The lifestyle is casual and relaxed. The colors are bright, the music is lively and the food is a spicy blend of Caribbean, Seafood and Southern Comfort.

Now, eight years after we first discovered this paradise is our home. We have settled in well. Guess what! We have many friends who love to visit! We have a beautiful house with pool and my wife and I have a job and a life that we could hardly imagine then can. Anyone who has mystical subtropical islands are now all part of our daily life.

I am a charter captain, fishing guide and water taxi. I spend my days named in these magical islands of Captiva, Sanibel, Cayo Costa and Boca Grande. I still enjoy exploring the islands themselves, and now I get for tourists and fishermen from all over the U.S. and the world to help them explore. The best way to explore these islands by boat. It is faster and the only way to get some of these islands. What could be better than spending a beautiful day on the water exploring the barrier islands. Any number of local captains and water taxis can help you.

There is much to see and do for tourists and vacationers! We can for £ 200 Tarpon on the sandy flats in turquoise blue waters, or we can catch snapper for dinner tonight! I can take you on an eco-tour to see the manatees and alligators or can we by a roof of palm trees, surf, hike to a secluded beach on the Gulf of Mexico. We can at Barancle Phill is on Upper Captiva Iceland lunch or fresh oysters on Cabbage Key. Consider my boat to your personal “water limo” and let me take you to the restaurants and boutiques in Boca Grande to visit. You can also walk the beaches of Gasparilla, or visit the lighthouse.

If you fall in love with these islands, as my wife and I have 8 years ago, one could think of caught wild crazy thoughts about this place their permanent or second home. Check out the property. Here you will find some bargains! “It’s a great place to visit and by God, you might want to live here!”
