A good place to start researching a move is the expat sites for the country you’re interested in – they’re full of useful information provided by people who have already made the move. When I moved to Italy getting work permits and a visa was a long process even though I already had a job. http://www.german-way.com/expat.html, http://www.expatica.com/, http://www.alloexpat.com/moving_to_germany_forum/, http://www.expat-blog.com/en/destination/europe/sweden/, http://www.expatfocus.com/expatriate-sweden, http://www.alloexpat.com/moving_to_sweden_forum/, http://www.spainexpat.com/, http://www.thisisspain.info/.
You can find lots of others just by searching for “expat” and the name of the country you’re interested in.
You should also check the websites of the consulates for the countries you’re interested in to find useful information about the paperwork required in order to become a legal resident.
