the economy into a recession, this is a good time to buy a property?

So we all know that the U.S. economy is expected in a recession, and the Canadian economy to follow suit. I live in Manitoba in Winnipeg, to be exact, and I’m wondering if it’s a good time to be investing in property, be it a house or condo. Buyers in these times of profit, or is it better to wait for response

Yes, it is a great time to buy! Interest rates are low and it will help the economy come back.

It is definitely a buyer’s market. Homes are being listed way under the assessment price and buyer’s are coming in even lower.

Yes! If you have money , buy now!

With the economy in such bad shape, real estate goes down. House prices are at a very low for reasons including:

1. People don’t have enough money to buy right now.
2. People are getting laid off causing forclosures.
3. People simply can’t afford their homes anymore, so they sell cheap so they can get rid of it!

But don’t make big mistakes!

Heres my advice: Check around and see what really good deals you can get. Once you do buy a house, rent it out! DO NOT SELL IT AGAIN DURING THE RECESSION! The best thing to do is to rent it to tenants, and when the economy goes back up and property values sky rocket, Thats when to Sell!!!!!

I’d wait a bit if I were you in Canada. Canada is a long way behind what has happened in the U.S.A. ~ the pricing will come down in Canada over the next year or two. I’d hold for (say) at least 6 months and then start shopping.

house prices are down, meaning you can buy more houses/buildings/land for less money and resell them when the prices go back up.

almost everyone in the business will tell you that things might get a bit worse before they get better, but they will get better and if you have the money /financing to buy you can make a lot of money from people/government having to sell their homes for a lot less money because of the economy doing poorly.
