I saw some real estate sites online (British Columbia, Iceland), but if one is not willing to spend to $ 500,000 + houses seem to include mild, old, ugly inside and even outside. The quality of housing in Canada varies just as much as it does across the US. Vancouver is a very expensive city to live in. There are in fact $ 1 Mill crack shacks in Vancouver, it can be pretty insane. I would recommend, picking an area where you think you’d like to live, go there and meet a local real estate agent and have them show you around.
