ive been working at my first job for almost 2 years. It burns me out quickly and i hate knowing i have to show up to my shift. i love my co workers but i have problems with upper management. our job is to set up appointments for real estate agents. they call our company to set up an appointment to view a property currently being listed on the market. its a pretty easy job, all we have to do is contact the listing agent or the home owner.

we have several thousands of agents who call us from texas, denver, new york, tennessee, and nevada. there are currently 150 of us represenatives who help these real estate agents. it gets pretty busy on the weekend, busy to the point where we are literally understaff and the phones just keep ringing non stop from 8 am – 10 pm.

the company tech team created a new computer program to help us out. when we had to notify the lister or the home owner, this program pulls up an appointment for us to do – simple. but lately its been glitching. for example a realtor from San Antonio calls in 8 am sharp to set an appointment to show a $ 350,000 home to her clients around 11:30 am. The listing agent has stated in instructions to contact and give the home owner of the property a 2 hour advanced notice prior before the viewing. the appointment is set up but for some reason the generator will pull up appointments that occur from 2 – 6 pm saturday, leaving the 11:30 appointment untouched. by 11:15 the realtor calls in asking if its ok for her to view the property. when checking the status, no one has contacted the home owner. resulting in us having to cancel the appointment.

this has been happening to hundreds of showings and it upsets me because many realtors are losing potential sales. this also concerns me because im currently preparing to take the state bar exam to get my real estate license, i dont want to experience this problem.

it has become such a problem, during our yearly meeting we spoke with our regional director about it. she assured us that the program works perfectly but for the past 4 months, i really dont think she wants to admit wrong from right. her excuse was “you guys are just lazy and need to step it up”

we are under staffed. many people have already quit and others dont take this job seriously anymore. our supervisor is very disorganized and he has a very dry sense of humor that has also been a contributing factor to my stress. last week i did a 12 hour shift because i needed the extra cash, doesnt hurt but my supervisor straight up asked me “so why you working extra, you going broke?” …really?

i want to complain to the city’s board of realtor’s on how our company isnt doing our job right and something needs to be done but most of all… what do i do? i want to quit but its a such a hard choice.
