2. u gotta go on the boat ride up close. It will totally change your entire perception of the waterfalls.
I also heard the views are totally different from the usa side vs canada… i think from the usa side you get super upclose but hard to see all of the falls since your so close….on the canada side you lil further but u get the grand view. have a passport and try out both!
The view of the falls is better from the Canadian side of the falls, so I would advise you to get a hotel on the Canadian side. There are lot’s of hotels to choose from. Country Inn & Suites Niagara Falls hotel is ranked as the best hotel in Niagara Falls on Trip Advisor, but that hotel doesn’t have any falls view rooms. For a falls view room, you should stay at the larger hotels. I would recommend the Marriott or the Sheraton on the Falls hotel.
Here is a list of all the hotels (ranked and reviewed from best to worst) in Niagara Falls on Trip Advisor:

On the Canadian side there is Clifton Hill…there are restaurants, gift shops, rides, haunted houses, arcades and a big ferris wheel. It’s a tourist trap but it’s a lot of fun. There is also Marineland (like Sea World, but smaller) and the Skylon Tower which has great views of the entire Niagara region. The best attraction is probably Maid of the Mist (you can board from either the Canada or USA side). There are also several casinos in the area, including the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel on the American side. There is a lot to do on the Canadian side of the falls so I’ll give you the link to the tourist website so you can browse them all…

On the American side of the falls, there is Niagara Falls State Park which has great close up views of the falls and you get a good view of the Niagara Falls, Ontario skyline from the park. There is also an observation tower, and Cave of the Winds experience which is a series of stairways and boardwalks that take you right up to the falls. If you decide to take Maid of the Mist, take it from the American side because the price is cheaper and the lines are smaller.

Also, you do NOT need a passport to travel to Canada or return to the United States. To cross the border you will need some form of photo ID such as a drivers license and proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate. I’m assuming you will be flying into Buffalo Niagara airport. There is a shuttle bus called Niagara Air Bus that takes you to Niagara Falls from the airport. You can also use a taxi if you wish.

There are fireworks at Niagara Falls every weekend in summer, as well as special fireworks for Canada Day and the Fourth of July. For the best Niagara Falls experience, stay on the Canadian side, but be sure to visit the attractions on both sides of the falls. Enjoy your trip =)
