Filing articles of Incorporation for an LLC in Michigan.?
Question : Filing articles of Incorporation for an LLC in Michigan.?
I am unsure of how to list my “purpose”, or if there are any legal, or licensing considerations. If I am forming an LLC in order to rehab homes for resale, or rent, can I just put that, or are there licenses, etc needed? I am also starting a staging, cleaning business, so may need to set up a 2nd company, unless I can list all activities under one LLC, then just keep separate books….Any words of wisdom out there?

Most states allow a business activity to be stated as “Any Lawful Business”.
You need to check the Michigan Business Corporations Act to see if that is legal in Michigan.
An LLC does not have articles of incorporation, I believe they use articles of organization.
Check some articles of other LLCs at the Michigan Secretary of State Web site to get a good idea.
You need a contractors license in order to rehab homes in MI. My uncle has a business company doing the same and for purpose you can just stated to rehab and resell homes. Nothing fancy is needed its just so the state acknowledges your business entity and you get some perks during tax time. In regards to your 2nd business venture you can do another filling under another business name but keep in mind there is a fee for each filing….$ 50.
