Vacation in Williamsburg VA during Columbus weekend?
Question : Vacation in Williamsburg VA during Columbus weekend?
My friend and I will be visiting from Oct. 9-13, and would like to see as much as possible, having never been to Williamsburg before. Are there good packages that include lodging and attraction tickets? And can anyone recommend an itinerary for us?
Thanks so much!

I have attached two links that are a good starting point for packages.
I can recommend a few things to do while you are there,,, dining in one of the colonial taverns, most are on Duke of Gloucester Street, for lunch or dinner is a definite must. I highly recommend Kings Arms Tavern,,, excellent food, fair sized portions, modest price and a superb selection of items that were available in colonial times served up in an awesome atmosphere.
Try to catch some street theatre while you are there as well,,, your walking tour guidebook will list the events covered with your ticket,,, the street theatre is very nice though.
The bakery on Duke of Gloucester Street will be serving warm gingerbread cookies and apple cider,,, it’s worth the wait in line to grab a snack to munch on as you stroll the area.
Almost all of the exhibit buildings are worth a visit, even if it is just a peek your head in the door look about. Located throughout the historical area are gardens, some small, some fair sized, most are worth a look.
Carriage rides,,, this is a definite must do,,, be sure to purchase tickets early on.
Take a ride out the Colonial Parkway towards Yorktown for a visit to the Victory Center, then head back towards Williamsburg and on to Jamestown ( passing under Colonial Williamsburg via a tunnel ) for a look at the area.
There are also several plantations in the area,,, Carter’s Grove and Shirley come to mind plus the College of William and Mary is just outside the colonial area.
If you tire of history then there is also shopping north of Williamsburg at the outlet malls, the Williamsburg Pottery, and loads of specialt shops in the area.
Busch Gardens will be on it’s weekend schedule and is worth a visit as well if you have the need or time.
Great place to visit, enjoy.
