kitten help..need to find quick home? ?
Question : kitten help..need to find quick home? ?
ok. i really need quick help. i got a free 5 week old kitten off craigslist and i’m thinking it’s healthy. can’t have shots til it’s 8 week thought but at petco. those can be cheap and he was tested for feline leukemia and aids. those were negative..the guy delivered the cat free of charge. [i'm not allowed to have animals where i live, the owner of the house says his grandfather and wife is allergic to cats but they've never came to us with a problem] i already think he lied because they would of been coughing and sneezing. the cat doesn’t shed but he had fleas and i’ve been worried about that spreading but i got the main 4 fleas i saw and i got a flea comb and tried to get most of the eggs. is that the beginning stage of them coming? and i haven’t been biten by them or no signs of itching. i also have school so i can’t watch him all the time. what should i do? i’m about to call a shelter tomorrow because i don’t have time finding a good home yet. i live in Bloomfield, New jersey. giving him a bath tonight with flea shampoo. i love this kitten but i kinda regret getting him…
i did call the previous owner and said to him..it has fleas and he said he couldn’t come get him because of work at the moment but he told me to find him a good home.

This is so wrong on so many levels. If you can return the kitten to where you got it, please do so and explain to the morons who gave it to you that kittens need to be at least 8 weeks old before rehoming. If that’s not an option, get with a shelter and see if they can take it. Please don’t give it away to just anyone who will take it. There are people who look for kittens all the time to hurt. Use this as a lesson learned that you must not take animals on impulse. You must have a secure home for them and the means to provide proper vet care.

This website gives suggestions on safely rehoming a pet. Read it…it could save this kitten’s life.
I live pretty close to Bloomfield and wish I could take the kitten for you, but we already have 2 cats and I cannot take in anymore. I adopted a kitten that the shelter claimed was 8wks turns out she wasn’t and didn’t even know how to eat yet!!! She ended up being fine so your kitten may end up alright after all. I suggest talking to your vet about how old the kitten is and what you should do. The vet may even possibly know somebody who wants a kitten or a reputable rescue or shelter. Sometimes the employees want to help out too. I rescued an incredibly sick kitten from irresponsible owners and a girl at our vet office took her home to care for her when she was really, really sick and ended up wanting to keep her.
You could try to go on petfinder.com and on the top of the page click on animal shelters and search them by state
PAWS It is close to Bloomfield Ave in Montclair.
