My next boat much more rider / cruiser from an Ohio-based manufacturer that both the road race Cruiser / and a number of more expensive cruise ship in the same factory building purchased. Despite going more “high end” of my purchase, the problems are even worse.
After a short drive, I noticed the steering wheel and if no feedback has been extremely difficult to turn. I could do with a little effort and my oldest son could play football do, but my other children were not strong enough to control the boat. I called the dealer, but he absolutely refused to assist in any warranty issues and forced me directly with the factory. The manufacturer does not want to answer the phone or return messages, so it took weeks (and dozens of calls) to find someone. Finally, I described the problem and was told: “… Yes, this boat has a problem with the steering bearings they swell when wet” Huh? “You know that” Yes, I hear “Do not worry, we have developed a solution “In fact, the manufacturer went out and solved the problem in one afternoon and the boat can now be flown without strength training, although the question remains.. why not do it before leaving the factoryA few months later I was surfing about 15? Miles offshore in Lake Erie (single-handed, of course) when the sail blew up in the mast track high-tech carbon fiber dumping my mainsail on the bridge. Have fun race on, all alone, the sea, the mainsail around one day and a half of the mobile home. When I was in a position to call the manufacturer was, I spoke with an executive committee and asked how could a carbon fiber mast for this inadequacy. He told me (you guessed it): “.. We know this is a defect in manufacturing” It turns out that sailing is not the title of carbon (not in their advertising literature). This part is plastic and it is hard and brittle when the mast. Again, I assured not to worry was cooking, they were also aware of the problem and had a fix. Yes, they installed a new navigation system to track work wonders. I’m always still ask why the “solution” is not the norm.
I saved the best for last. My Reefing never worked. Despite dozens of calls from the first few months I owned the boat there were always excuses why he did not see “the mast must be lowered, we look at the boat show, we are getting ready to launch boats, etc.” After 18 months, the manufacturer has finally agreed to test the device, because it was “a known problem with this role on my yacht design.” However, after examination, we moved to excuse number two was my fault. It seems that my presence even on the ship was damaged and the aircraft had to be replaced. I was forced to buy a different model coil unit and a new support, but low and behold, it is not working on my boat. The editor (not a plant employee) that the new equipment installed noticed the forestay tang attachment to the fuselage was in the wrong place. The following showed that the manufacturing errors on the underlying cause of the error part. Despite the smoking gun, the manufacturer still refuses to recognize the deficiency or refund me the new forestay and furling (which is now clearly a problem warranty), I participated to a lawyer.
