Windows Vista Update Loop?
Question : Windows Vista Update Loop?
Hi guys, I’m stuck on the infinite windows vista stage 3 of 3 0% complete update loop. So far I’ve made progress by following these exact instructions
”
Fixing Windows Vista Home Premium after installing KB937287 “Windows
Update”
In Microsoft Vista Home Premium, there was a screwed up update.
It kept rebooting the computer and displayed this message: “Configuring
Updates Stage 3 of 3″ and would go from 0% to 100% before rebooting
again. Safe mode offered no help as the same thing happened.
To resolve this – get to a command prompt:
The command prompt may display as “X:” – if it does, type “C:” and
press enter (changing the location to the boot drive).
Change directory to the “C:Windowswinsxs” folder by typing:
” CD ” (press Enter)
” CD Windowswinsxs ” (press Enter)
Rename the file named “Pending.xml” to something else by typing:
“ren pending.xml pending.xxx” (press Enter)
Run regedit by typing “Regedit” and press Enter.
Search for the entry with this description: “Advanced installer need
resolving”
and delete it.
Search for the entry: “Pending.xml identifier” (which will be 2 lines
or so after the first one) and delete it.
End the Regedit and reboot. You should be OK.”
Then I get so STUCK at the step that says to rename the pending.xml file.
So far My command prompt says : C :Windowswinsxs>
what do I put after this, exactly?!?
when I am at the location I said I was, i type “pending.xml ” and it says it is not a recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
