How much would it roughly cost to hire movers?
Question : How much would it roughly cost to hire movers?
I live in Snyder Tx, and I’m moving to New Orleans LA in around June. I have a one bedroom apartment and the biggest thing I’m packing is a bed, not even dressers. I’ve checked online and I keep having to put in my information and they’ll ‘call me with a quote’. I don’t want to make an appointment, I just want an assumption of how much it will cost to have someone drive my things to New Orleans and then unpack them?
My boyfriend’s joining the army, that’s why I’m moving. The only family I have is my mother who lives elsewhere. I don’t have a truck or anyone to drive it.
Please be serious. Thank You

Hiring a professional mover can be very expensive, and depends on how much stuff, how far it goes, and whether you have the movers pack and unpack for you. Pack/unpack means boxing everything up and unboxing it in your new place. Basic moving includes getting things out of your old place, put on the truck, driving to the new place, and getting things out of the truck and inside your new place. There are so many variables that the movers DO want to come take a look and talk about the options. They really can’t give you even a ballpark guestimate without that.
One thing you can do is see about renting a U-Haul trailer or truck, and having friends help get stuff into the trailer or truck, and having your boyfriend and his buddies get stuff out and inside your new place. That is always less expensive than professional movers.
A third option is to take only what will fit into your car, selling and/or donating the rest, and getting new (or lightly used) things at the new place.
