i am currently faced with a huge possibility of losing my dog. no, he’s not going to die yet, he’s in perfect health. but its highly possible that he might be taken away from me. you see, our landlady just recently announced that she’s banning all dogs from the apartment. and she’s threatening to throw us out if we don’t get rid of our dog. first of all, we have had this dog for 2 years and we’ve never heard any complaint from her the whole time. second, the only reason she’s doing this now is because she doesn’t want her property to get all messy and stinky due to our pets. third, she’s accusing my dog of tearing up the window screens; my dog’s never done such thing, he can’t even reach our windows! fourth, she claims that the neighbors get irritated by our dog’s constant barking when strangers are inside the residential premises. i’ve already made the suggestion of finding another place to live to my parents, but they wouldn’t listen. now they’re letting my dog stay at my cousin’s house temporarily until the landlady ceases from her daily inspection. i don’t know if my dog will ever have a chance to come home, back to his normal life. i can see he’s having a hard time adjusting to his current environment, where he’s being locked up in my cousin’s function room. my parents are even thinking of sending him to my father’s farm, which is about 6 hours away from our city. i don’t know what im supposed to do, but in case i did, i’d be willing to do ANYTHING just to keep my dog. he means the world to me and i dont ever want to be away from him. he is more than just a pet and a companion, he is my best friend. honestly im crying now while im writing this call for help. i dont even know what kind of help im looking for, i guess i just needed an outlet for my dilemma. i love my dog more than anything, and it would be absolutely devastating if they take him away from me. if only i could convince my parents to look for a new house, because its clearly no use to persuade our wicked old landlady to permit my dog’s stay. but even my parents wouldn’t listen to me, they love my dog but not as much as i do. please someone respond to this, say anything. i really need some comforting right now.

Have your parents check the lease they signed. If it says anything about pets being allowed, then you’re fairly off the hook. This is mostly a legal issue(Which I’m sorry to say alot of people don’t have the time, money, or mental want to go threw lawyers and paper work), and your landlady should’ve already known you had signed a paper saying your dog was free to stay. If she’s changed it so abruptly (without, say, a weeks worth of notice) it’s grounds for suing. But again, alot of people are unsure and don’t want to bother in areas like this so try not to suggest it to your parents, until after you’ve found the paper and discussed things with the land lady.
If the above suggestion fails, do you have any close friends? Someone near by that might have room for your dog? I know it wont be the same as having him inside the house with you, but you could visit him alot easier. Like, after school, you could drop by, play with him then head home. You could see him every day and it wont be nearly as hard.
If that fails too, let him go to the farm. I know it’s far away and not the most desired of places, but give it a chance. Dogs like running around, and a farm is perfect for that. Plus, he’s still somewhere you can visit (Even if it’s far away). You wont be loosing him completely to a pound or anything and that’s the most important thing.
Take care, kiddo. I hope for the best! Take a couple hours to calm down and play with your pup before you try any of the suggestions. It’ll do your brain and body some good to relax before going threw anymore stress.

I’m so sorry!
If it is absolutely necessary that the dog cannot stay with you any more, I think the best option would be to find a good home for him within your area. Lots of loving families would be happy to send you weekly e-mails with pictures and updates, I’m sure.
When my friend had to get rid of her dog, she found a family on Craigslist with a young daughter, so they wanted a dog for her birthday. My friend asked if they would send pictures every week, and they do. In fact, she got to know them so well that she can go and visit the dog every once in a while. -

There has to be something that your dog is grandfathered in. Only the dogs that are there are allowed to stay until you move or the dog dies.
Check with landlord & tenant laws in your state. I don’t think that she can do that legally. So check the laws where you are & see if you can be grandfathered in.
If there is a lease the lease has to stay they way it is until the lease if up.

What does your lease say regarding pets? If you had the dog when you moved in the house and the landlady was aware and you had written consent from her to have the dog, I really don’t see what she can do. But, I’m not a lawyer so don’t go by what I say. If you had permission in the beginning, then maybe your parents should contact an attorney. Hope it works out for you sweetie.

I can you why you’re in such dispair, but the landlady owns that place you call home, and from what you say, it seems it is only recently she has this objection to allowing the dog indoors. Maybe have a good talk to her about it and reason with her, Make suggestions what could happen, and explain how bad you feel. You could explain that can spread word of this action and maybe with the competition of landlords and ladies she may change her mind. If not, you could get a petition to sign allowing you and pets to stay. However, if your dog has to go, maybe he will be happy on the farm, and even though 6 hours drive is far..you know he’s close in your heart. I seriously wish you the very best of luck, and that this lady gives up, and has a change of heart.

I’m so sorry that you are being forced to go through possibly losing your dog. Is there any way that you or your parents could talk to the landlady, even sign a contract stating that your dog will not destroy any property, you agree to clean up after your dog, even picking up his poops and he won’t bark and annoy the neighbors? If you sign a contract, you have to follow through on what it says, so maybe the landlord will allow you to keep your dog. Also, talk to your neighbors, and maybe have them sign a petition for your dog to stay with you. Promise them too that you will make sure that your dog does not make a mess or a lot of noise.
Then try walking your dog around the neighborhood or taking him to a park so that he gets some exercise.
The only other option would be for you to go where your dog is at, whether staying at your Dad’s farm, if that is where your Dad lives, or going to visit him as often as you can to lety him know that he is loved.
You can talk to your friend’s too, to see if they could keep your dog or take him in, and you could visit him everyday. At least he would be taken care of, and not just kept in a room. like he is being kept at your cousin’s house.
If you do have to give your dog away, then ask the people who take him if you can visit him or they could let you know how he is doing.
I know you are going through a difficult time. Your dog is like your best friend. You need to do what is best for him. Talk to your parents and if possible the landlord and ask her if you could find a way to come to an agreement regarding your dog and you cleaning up after him and promising to replace anything that he tears up.
Again, do what is best for your dog. I know it hurts but if there is no way you can keep the dog, then at leaat find him a loving home.
