what is the safest and most effective way to remove mold from my house?
Question : what is the safest and most effective way to remove mold from my house?
I suspect it’s from water damage, but don’t know where the source is. The mold/mildew is in the master bedroom, on the wall shared by the shower pipes, but when we had our home inspection everything was fine. How can i find the source without ripping down any unnecessary walls?

i would suspect condensation rather than an actual leak if the inspection was clean
but the damage may have occured after the inspection.you have to replace the wall anyways,so when you cut it out, check the pipes again yourself, and also the roof.
also if it is near your ac unit, your drip pan may be leaking
Before you start working on the mold, inspect the infestation. If the contamination is not severe and it involves areas smaller than 10 square feet, you could probably handle the mold removal task yourself. However, if the infestation is severe, you need to get professional help.
These are the steps for DIY mold removal:
1. Put on protective gears like goggles, face mask, long rubber gloves and disposable clothing. Do not touch mold with your bare hands, they are hazardous.
2. Contain the mold contaminated area with plastic sheeting to prevent molds from infecting other areas of the house when cleaning is going on.
3. Mix 1 part of white vinegar to 1 part of warm water and spray this solution onto the problem spots. Let the solution to sit for at least 15 minutes. You may use undiluted vinegar to treat stubborn spots.
4. Scrub off the mold with a mixture of Borax and white vinegar. Repeat this process until all the molds are gone.
5. Rinse well with clean water or wipe clean with a damp cloth if rinsing is not possible.
6. Make sure the area is dried completely. Open all the windows and doors to allow better air circulation.
7. Lastly, spray a layer of undiluted white vinegar and leave it without rinsing. This helps to disinfect and prevent future mold growth.
Hope this helps.
