Question : I am a 30 y/o (30′s the new 20′s lol) college senior, married with two girls. Am I too old to pledge AKA’s?
I am a 30 year old college senior. I am married with two little girls. I just transferred from Howard University to another school for my senior year. I have read all the previous postings on here about the AKA’s. So although I have always wanted to join I never knew how until now so thanks everyone. But getting to my question am I too old to plegde?.my friends are all laughing at me they said my line name is going to be oldhead and they are all AKA’s. I am on the deans list every semester my average GPA is 3.5 and active in my community. I know there is no written age limit im just asking a blunt social question will I be frowned upon. I am not an old 30 most people think im 21 or in high school, definitely not married with two children. I dont want to wait for grad school because I feel as if I have waited long enough. So what do you think???What are my chances???
Alpha Kappa Alpha
I think I do act my age…by being a responsible member of my community. A home owner, with a luxury vehicle, and two kids also on the honor roll. My girls ice skate, plays lacrosse, soccer, basketball, and track and field. Perfection is what I strive for and the AKA’s are in line with that. It is about supporting sisterhood and community, not drinking kegs. So I dont mind people saying they think im too old, after all im here for an honest opinion but preferably from members who have crossed Alpha Kappa Alpha. Thanks

how about acting your age? you missed your opportunity, deal with it. 30 is the new and old 30 no matter how you want to split it, you are not 20 anymore. You are a mature adult and should really sort out your priorities, is it really that important for you to do this? if so, be my guest, but as you mentioned, expect to be the new whipping boy (or girl)
