Question : Why does “Nationwide Homeowners Insurance” rarely pay claims and why do they get away with it?
We were robbed while away on business three states away and when we returned we found our house burglarized of about $ 35,000 thousand in property and its been two years waiting. We were recently drug into court and asked all sorts of demeaning questions. And, by the way “NationWide is not on your side!!”

I’m sorry you’re having a rough time getting your claim paid. However, you have not incluced enough information to support your contention that they rarely pay claims nor that they get away with it.
Evidently, they must have some reason to believe that your claim is inflated or somehow not covered by your policy. It must be frustrating for you, but carefully vetting every claim is how they protect their shareholders.
There is a huge problem with this in Washington State, with insurances companies intentionally not paying on policies or taking the insured to court until the insured person eventually gave up or accepted a lower settlement.
Some of the cases were car accidents where the person with the policy was severely injured, and permanently disabled.
The people in Washington State passed Referendum 67 this past November 2007 to make it unlawful for insurance companies to unreasonably deny certain coverage claims, and permits treble damages plus attorney fees for that and other violations.
