How strict are the movers regarding insects?
Question : How strict are the movers regarding insects?
My boyfriend and I are cleaning his house for when the movers come to relocate him to Monterey for DLI. Because he is military he doesn’t have to pay for the movers-but he heard from someone that if they find ONE SINGLE BUG they can refuse to move him and he will have to find a way to move everything on his own at his own expense. He doesn’t have a bug problem or anything but there is the occasional dead bug here or there. So I’m just wondering if they really enforce this rule a lot or if it’s just a scare…

he can look at the movers guide on his AKO account. that will put it word for word on how it will go….good luck

What it most likely means is that they can refuse to move the HHG if his house is infested with insects. Meaning they are everywhere and it is unsafe and unsanitary for them to be in.
I have never heard of this rule in all the years and moves we have made. If they find a bug or two in the house then it should be fine. We have been in several of areas where it doesn’t matter how much you clean, sanitize or anything else, the bugs are always there.

When I read the stuff from TMO it basically said they can refuse to move your stuff if it’s infested but I don’t think you’re going to have a problem. I mean seriously who doesn’t have at least one dead bug in their house? If the moving company starts flipping out about a bug then call TMO and have them send out a quality control guy and mediate the disagreement – they’ll be able to help you out the most.
I don’t know what branch he is, it’s called TMO or Traffic Management Office for the USMC, it may be something else if he’s in a different branch.

Generally,that only applies if your house is like dirty nasty. if there one or two random dead bugs they probably wont care,if they see cockroaches everywhere they look…they can refuse to move you. We had an ant problem in our apartment,we were very clean but the ants came anyways,and they still moved our stuff
