Would you object to construction of a Christian church near Centennial Park in Atlanta? Why not?
Question : Would you object to construction of a Christian church near Centennial Park in Atlanta? Why not?
….if you also object to the construction of a mosque near Ground Zero?
Muslim extremists committed a terrorist act. They believed their terrorist act was justified by their relgion.
Committed anti-abortionist, anti-gay Christian activist Eric Rudolph committed a terrorist act by bombing the 1996 Olympics in the middle of a party. He believed his terrorist act was justified by his religion.
Suppose someone decided to build a Christian church within two blocks of the Centennial Park bombing site. (As a matter of fact, there are already churches in that area, just as there are already mosques near Ground Zero.)
Would you object?

There is a difference but I am not surprised you did not see it. Only Eric Rudolph believed it was justified by his religion. Not Christianity. Muslims have been building mosques as indicators of conquest over their enemies for centuries. Gee, if you only did a little research life would be so much easier for you.

No,
Big flick, this is a short summation, I really have no interest to go into a dissertation on this one, just to touchy on the public forum.
Nearly every Christian in the US and world was appalled by this act and condemned it, and many many worked to aid those who were affected by it. Would it be in bad taste, I do not believe so.
Can you say anything close to the same for Muslims. I know most are not bad, but I have yet seen the systematic refutation of violence based on religion as I do from many other religions. Is it protected to build the Mosque? Yes, without doubt. Is it in bad taste, without a doubt.

I wouldn’t object to any property owner leasing or selling their property to anyone. I simply have no say in it, government doesn’t either. However if I had a problem, I could write letters to the property owner, or protest them in some way, or do any other number of things to help push my own personal view without violating the rights of anyone else.
Using logic, saying that because muslims committed a crime then all muslims are criminals, is the exact same as your example of christian crime. Its illogical to say one religion is different from the other in that sense of religion=crime. Also using logic, if an american civilian death = bad, then muslim civilian death = bad, or more clearly, civilian death = bad.
Those who died during 911 had family everywhere. Does this mean muslim youth centers or mosques should be banned from any area near someone related to a victim of the terrorist 911 attacks? What about the muslim families of those civilians who died either in the terror attacks of 911 or terror attacks of the 10+ year occupation of Iraq and Afghanastan or the 35+ year occupation of Iran?

Dear Wingnut:
I hate all these libtards who know nothing of the Constitution or the 1st Amendment much less have read it. If they would have taken the time it says Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
Nobody is saying that those fine human beings called Muslims can not practice their religion, and nobody is saying that they can’t exercise that freedom, what people are saying is that when a grieving parent walks over to the WTC site to grieve at the only spot they can because some Muslims (yes they were Muslims) burned their son/daughter to death and then had a building drop on them and bury them into dust, should not have to walk and pass by that faith’s symbol two blocks away.
Should we build a Japanese Zero next to the Arizona Memorial, if there was an abandoned building that some *** wipe wanted to just build there. It is just a bad idea and shows no respect for the grieving families. It is just wrong and they know it.
As far as the exact number of people who would have to killed, I think the key here is that the WTC is hallowed ground because of the number of people killed that were never found or identified.
The active search for the dead ended at the site in 2002 after a massive cleanup of 1.5 million tons of debris. About 20,000 pieces of human remains were found, but the DNA in thousands of those pieces was too damaged by heat, humidity and time to yield matches in the many tests forensic scientists have tried over the years.
More than 40 percent of the 2,749 Sept. 11 victims in New York have never been identified.
AND THAT MY ARROGANT YOUNG FRIEND IS WHY YOU DON’T BUILD A FRICKING MOSQUE TWO BLOCKS FROM THAT SITE.
