I’m starting a new job in the DC area at the end of the summer and I’m trying to do a loose budget for the move. Any ideas about how much I should expect to pay?

maybe if you called a few movers you’d be better equipped to make an informed decision.
You might want to check Uship. There’s a tool on there that can give you an idea. Or you could post your listing & show what you have & people (companies) will bid on your job. Be sure you’re very accurate on what you have, because it is what you list exactly that people are bidding on carrying. Also, gas prices are rising & moving trucks typically get about 8-10 miles to the gallon which can get pricy. Figure that into your moving expense if you do rent a truck. Also daily insurance and the cost of any mileage that may go over the limit. Usually you can get a one-way rate on a truck, but that isn’t always less expensive.
