Question : Hello, I can’t decide to move to Vegas or not. Please give me advise…?
Currently we live in bay area and rent apartment. We are family of 3: me, my husband and kid 1.5 years old. Our recent income is ~170 K total. We have been offered to be moved to Las Vegas office and keep our salaries same. Here we can’t afford to buy a house in area with best schools because houses are over 1.2 mil in those areas. In Las Vegas we can afford to buy nice house in Summerlin area in cash. So far expenses will be same or similar in both places besides housing. I read that there is lots of crime in Vegas, house invasions while people are still in house. Also I read that schools are bad. Found some info about black widow spiders, scorpions and sneaks in summerlin area. And so on and so on.. I am starting to wonder if Las Vegas is good place to move.. and is it worth to move only because of low houses price and low income taxes. Please advise..

if the schools are bad then dont move ur childs education is ur prized possestion

As long as you are going to have that kind of income here I would do it. There are private schools all over so don’t worry about the bad school system. When your kid is old enough send him to private school. I wouldn’t hesitate. Just move.
Anywhere you go you will have crime. It is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Summerlin is a great area or you can get even more for your dollar by moving into the Southwest part of the valley. That is a brand new area and you can get a house real nice in that area. Forget about the bug problem. I lived in Summerlin and never say any of them. You have to be in the desert part not the heavily populated neighborhoods. When I lived in the southwest before they built it up it was all desert around our development and we did see scorpions and coyotes and foxes but never had a problem with them. Again . you are making more of a problem than there actually is.

Las Vegas is known as the Sin City for a reason. Schools in the Bay Area of course are much better than Las Vegas which is really not an ideal place to raise a child when there is another choice. Without your child, Las Vegas is worth trying out for a couple. But for the sake of your little one, maybe higher housing cost is worth it.

Summerlin is a beautiful area and crime is every where. You don’t have to worry about the bugs been here 16 years and have never seen a scorpian, have a bug guy once a month and no problems.
