Question : Do I call Social Services at this point?
I am in Real Estate and about a month ago closed on a home for an 80 year old widower. Over the closing process (a long one, 45 days) He befriended me and he would call me here and there @ my office. About a week ago he came in w/ a houseplant and told me to keep it, as it was “bugged” by the government. He called they next day complaining of shots fired that came through his window and hit his lamp. He bought a house in a gated retirement community. Today he has sat here with me almost all day (my office)…reading Real Esate manuals, and is now taping envelopes for me. I like him, he is great company. In the hours he has been here today he has told me about the shots fired, his house being bugged, people watching him on the roof, and a radon spray gun that someone put through his window to make water droplets on things so he sould see things that were invisible. He will catch himself sometimes not making sense and gets teared up. “Please don’t send me to a home” was…
something he said in a lucid moment. He has no family. He will know if social services pays him a visit it was me…and what if they deem him ok to live alone? He will feel like I betrayed him. He is here now, and I know he is safe…I worry about him at night. I have dealt w/ dementia & alzheimers and this is the onset here and it is coming quickly. He is a war veteran so that plus the dementia only adds to the paranoia.
Any input? Please what would you do.
he will know it was me, if I report…he has moments where his is clear as a bell. Scary thing…he drives =(
