Question : I’m unsure of how I want to serve food at reception?
The banquet hall I rented for the reception is just big enough for the dance floor and all the tables and such. I had planned on doing it buffet style, but there’s not really enough room to have a buffet. However, there is a smaller room adjoining to the room I’m using for the reception. It’s an extra $ 200. I can either rent that room & have a buffet (my family is cooking, so I’d also have to rent the warming trays and such) OR I can hire people to serve the food (the venue has a kitchen & a large commercial warmer & refrigerator). Which is the best option? Also, if I hire people to serve the food, how does that work? I’ve only been to buffet style weddings in the past. Do they pass out an already prepared plate or do they roll the food around on carts & let people choose what they want? Thanks & God bless!
oh & my friend is a manager at a restaurant & can get me some servers there to do it for probably about $ 100. so it would definately be cheaper to have people serve it. i’m just unsure what the better option is.. like what would work better.
Kirstie — yes, i’m sure it’ll just be $ 100. I used to work at the restaurant, too. So they’re doing it cheap for me :)

Servers pass out an already prepared plate of food. Buffet is easier, but plated food is more elegant.
