Are lawyers above the law, can they lie in court?
Question : Are lawyers above the law, can they lie in court?
I am pro-say in a lawsuit against the city of Austin, and public access community television. The actions of management or just any legal, selling city property. Spending thousands of dollars for equipment no one else use the management. This is a nonprofit organization squandering money. I asked for open records from the city of Austin, and was denied access to public records.

Pro-se and yes they can lie in court, they all do it on a daily basis if they did not they could not defend guilty/at fault clients.
one of the fundamental duties of a lawyer is to not mislead the court. whether any of these other randoms that have answered your questions supposedly “know” that a lawyer has lied to the court and therefore they are above the law – is irrelevant. The fact is that there are dodgy lawyers out there that do lie in court and therefore all lawyers lie/ are allowed to lie would seem like saying that all humans are above the law because some people commit crimes. No-one including lawyers, in theory, is above the law, that is the beauty of it, it is only people with strong political connections that can continually get away with it.
