which companies will insure rooms in shared houses?
Question : which companies will insure rooms in shared houses?
I live in a shared house and need to get contents insurance for what’s in my room. So far I’ve had one quote, but it’s pricey, and it’s really hard to find other companies that will insure a single room. Any ideas?

You don’t insure a “room.” What you are looking for is renter’s insurance.

Most companies flat out won’t do it, and the ones that do, almost always exclude coverage for theft.
You need to talk to a local agent, to see what the markets are. Most likely, there aren’t going to be many choices, and it IS going to cost a lot more than regular renters insurance, because of the much higher risk.

You are not looking for insurance on the room but on your personal belongings no matter where you reside. Renters insurance is very cheap. Call your auto insurance company and ask about it.
