Sallie Mae is your best option – subsidized & unsubsidized loans – alternative loans are something else

SLM alternative loans are at 18% you are better off going with a private company such as TFC or EFS which are at 12%.

If you can afford a personal loan that is at a better rate – go for it. Federal Aid (sub & unsub) is at a fixed rate and I’m not sure of the rae right now – think it is somewhere near 7. Sub you don’t have to start paying back until 6 mo after you graduate, unsub you need to pay the interest while you are in school – you can defer it but then you end up paying interest on the interest.

Look on www.fastweb.com – it is a site that has you take survey and gives you places to look/apply for scholarships that are pretty tailored to the answers you gave. For example, there are scholarships out there that are just for twins.

Make damn sure you can afford school before you start because if you do and then just a short time in you decide you can’t do it you’ll end up paying for half the education for nothing – I work for a tech school that has a 12 mo program and I see it every day.

Good luck to you.
