Some companies report that you’ve made a claim if you call the claim line to ask a question so I’d rather ask you!

NO homeowners insurance covers leaks to underground pipes, that are NOT under the house. In other words, if the leak is between the house and the city water line, it’s not covered. The pipe itself is ALSO not covered – unless it was, for example, damaged by fire, which caused the leak. But pipe is cheap. The EXPENSIVE part, is getting TO the pipe.

If you’re not in Texas, on the standard HO3, if the leak is under or in the house, the pipe itself is not covered, but the damage to GET to the pipe, busting through the wall or the concrete floor, IS covered.

Driveway is NOT a covered structure, so breaking through a driveway to get to the pipe, is NOT covered.

As you can see, it depends a WAY LOT, exactly where the leak is.
