Question : 2 year old Beagle moving from Miami to Toronto. How can I make it easy for him?
I’m moving from Miami to Toronto soon with my 2 year old Beagle. I’m concerned because it’s going to be a big change for him- especially because of the winter in Toronto. How can I make this transition as easy as possible for my dog? He is very active and here in Miami he exercises a lot, and I have no idea how I will exercise him in the winter.

Just exersise him inside your house.

I would just spend as much time with him so that you can be that “constant” in his life. Be prepared for him to have some trouble adjusting to the changes. When I moved down the street, my dog tore up newspapers for about 2 weeks, and that was not like her at all! I called the vet, and she said that she was just having trouble adjusting to the change. I would just spend as much time with him as you can. In the winter, I would just find a way to exercise him in the house. You can get a ball and throw it down the hall. He probably won’t get as much exercise as he is used to in the winter, but he will be fine! Good luck with the move!

You exercise him the same way you did in Miami. Instead of watching out for heat stroke you’ll just make sure he’s not freezing. He should be perfectly fine though. If you’re concerned he’s getting too cold then buy him a nice coat. There are many out there that aren’t for style but actually made to keep your dog warm.

Well in the winter, My dog LOVES to go out in the woods and just run around off the leash. If your dog can’t be off the leash without running away, get a very long training leash.
Also, if he dosnt like the cold, you can buy him doggy sweaters… But i dont think it will be a problem, I live in new york, and i have a beagle next door, down the street both ways, and two of them across the street, they all love playing in the snow with my dog…
Remember, don’t force him out into the snow!
But every time he looks relaxed in the snow, g ive him a treat… Don’t worry, he will get adjusted…
And you can still take him for walks.
