Turtle tank to a tropical fish tank?
Question : Turtle tank to a tropical fish tank?
I just bought a 75 gallon tank that had previously housed a turtle. My plans are to convert to a tropical tank. Any special concerns or directions I need to know about? I am thinking about obviously cleaning everything with viniger and water, and then putting a new filter pad in. Do I need to cycle then?

do not use rubbing alcohol to clean and vinegar is not all that good either. just dilute some aquarium salt using a rag clean the inside of the tank. do this a couple of times to make sure you got everything. clean the filter the same way. to let the tank cycle you can add a couple of cheap fish, but not rosey reds, or minnows or goldfish. most cheap goldfish have some sort of disease and will ruin your cycling. and if that’s not bad enough minnows and rosy reds are worse. if you have another fish tank you could remove some water from that and add to the new, if not just get it set up and add the bacterial supplement that gazelle was talking about but i would still wait until your water parameters are good before adding your fish. my opinion is the less chemicals in the water the better. good luck with your new set up
