Question : MY builder’s brick guys did a horrendous job. Is there anything I can do?
I am buying from KB Homes, and we are about halfway through building the house, and we gave $ 1000 in earnest money. The construction manager has said there is no chance of them redoing the work. The brickwork looks as if it was done by kindergartners. Absolutely unacceptable. The house stands out from the rest of the development like a sore thumb. Can anyone tell me who to contact for some relief? I am in Houston, Texas.

no warranty? insurance? basically i’d say you’re screwed.

Yes, you can hire another contractor and have the work redone. Take photos of the work and contact the parent company if there is one. Hold payment on further work until this is resolved. Get a written estimate from at least two contractors and include the state of the work done in their estimates. Have them notarized, if possible.
You may have to go to court over this since doing a tear down of the work is not impossible, just expensive. Do as much correspondence by email since this will give you a paper trial if you end up in court. The house should be under warrenty and an error like this may also be covered.
Obviously the contractor went cheap with their help and it shows.
Many people work revenge nowadays by posting short videos on YouTube. Then when someone researches KB Homes, they can see what their work is really like.

Check their license and go from there. You can file a through the state reference to their license number. The local and state should have some procedures if you do not want to go the legal route. If so, there are plenty of pro-bono lawyers that are willing to help. Look at the contract as well.

First, your MISTAKE for buying KB homes. KB Homes suck. There is actually a website by that name. PLus a lot of other websites on the problems with KB Homes.
KB homes rank in the bottom 10% of national builders.
In regards to the brick. What can you do? Don’t settle. If you lose the $ 1,000, count yourself luckly.
I would write a letter to KB Homes and tell them that the workmanship of the brick work is NOT acceptable. Take pictures. Ask them to redo it or you will not settle. It shouldn’t cost KB anything. It was the subcontractor that would eat the cost.

2 months ago you posted a question about the quality of KB homes and there were several posts that clearly said how bad KB is. BUt you didn’t listen. Now you are paying.
