heyyy everyone .. I’m preparing to buy a laptop for the spring semester, and I have never had a good track record with laptops! Ive had 3 in the past 6 years, to which all have died on me in the first 1-2 years. Most of the time I get the blue screen of death multiple times and then it just .. dies lol. So a friend of mine reccommend buying a computer through Dell. I want a decent Laptop thats going to last me awhile if im going to be spending a considerable amount of money on one. Im not Computer savvy at alll!!! lol Also Dell comes with Windows vista but I hear contradicting opinons on it, that it takes up alot of memory and what not.And im incredibly comfortable with windows XP but I know Vista is the newest program… So after picking out a laptop this is what i chose, if anyone can give me any advice it would be so appreciated!!

If you want a good laptop get a HP far better than Dell. I run Vista premium You will find it faster and has a lot more feetures than XP. I sent the Dell back ??

You should also check out the Dell Outlet website. They’re showing 465 Studio 15s in stock and 249 of those are “Previously Ordered New”- which means they are NEW! They also have others categorized as “Certified Refurbished” and “Scratch & Dent”, which are self-explanatory. Previously Ordered New models can be the result of a canceled order, declined payment, undeliverable package or other situation where the unit was never actually delivered. It is also Dell’s unofficial means of reducing overstock at certain times- which is the most likely explanation for the large number in inventory at present!
The good news for buyers is that these models are identical to new ones, have the same 1-year warranty as any new one but can be bought at a nice discount!!! I’ve bought quite a few laptops and desktops from Dell Outlet and highly recommend it!

PCMagazine named the DELL Studio 15 as their Editor’s Choice and it earned 4.5 out of 5 in their ratings. It was also ranked as their top choice among Mainstream Laptops in their most recent issue, slightly ahead of the HP dv5t (the HP earned 4 out of 5).
Computer Shopper also rated it highly, giving it an 8.0 out of possible 10 in their evaluation. They ranked the HP dv5t at 7.9 out of 10.
I actually ordered a new HP dv5t a few months ago and returned it to HP after only four days of use. The chrome-like finish looks incredible but it is impossible to keep clean. The fan ran non-stop on high speed and was very distracting. Despite the fan running, the left wrist rest area became uncomfortably hot to touch. Thankfully, HP’s return process was hassle-free. =)
I now have a Dell Studio 15 and I love it! It has the 2.5GHz Intel T9300 processor, ATI Radeon HD 3450 discrete graphics, WXGA+ (1440×900) LED display, backlit keyboard and fingerprint reader. If your budget allows, the LED display and backlit keyboard especially are cool options! If your budget allows, you should definitely consider both!
DELL has two good deals available on the Studio 15, as follows-

It’s a decent laptop, but I wouldn’t bet my dollars on it. I would recommend ASUS. I’ve had ASUS for the past 2 years, and it still looks brand new (mind you, it’s 13″ and I drag it everywhere I go). They are affordable and have the best laptop warranty in the world (yes, even better than Apple). 2 years warranty and 1 year accidental warranty. BTW, they are also the contractor that made macbook. You can always reinstall XP on your laptop, so you can keep all of your XP softwares.
