What is a business I could start that if I put all of my effort into I could turn into a lucrative business?
Question : What is a business I could start that if I put all of my effort into I could turn into a lucrative business?
I can’t find a job anywhere and I am in trouble. Thinking about starting a construction business or something (painting, drywall, concrete etc.) and hiring local workers.
I have worked in the remodeling business before, and also have done a lot of home inspection for damage type stuff..
Any help or ideas from people who have done this would be very appreciated. God bless

Go to score.org/ and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a volunteer SCORE counselor. They will guide you through the process.
SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
SCORE has 389 chapters in locations throughout the United States and its territories, with 10,500 volunteers nationwide. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate time and expertise as business counselors.
If you can read blueprints and plans, you can probably successfully launch as a subcontractor, and also apply for state certification to do larger jobs over time.
It helps to have a business partner – one person does the bidding, another person is on site at all times with workers, overseeing quality, etc.
My partner has done this successfully for a couple of years now. I don’t know where you are location wise, but as I mentioned, if you can read blueprints, you already know more than a lot of other contractors out there.
Also, try to meet all the larger General Contractors that might hire you, in person. Ask them directly, “What can I do to get jobs with you? What’s your process?”
